beastie boys - sabotage (70s cop show spoof)

I was around visiting my dear old dad once (he's in his mid-70s) and the Sabotage clip came on TV.

Watching it with a grim expression, at about the 3/4 mark he says "I know I'm getting old, but the plot of this thing is bloody impossible to follow".

combining both the great live clip & cheesy themes - how about this one?

Manowar headlined Earthshaker Fest in 2005, and so went all out, and for the whole gig had a 100 piece orchestra and a 100 person choir play with them.

On top of that, for the final song "Battle Hymn", they got every past Manowar member on stage to play the song with them! (one member left after the first album in like 1981 or 1982 and even he is there)

Manowar - "Battle Hymn" Live

(with 100 piece orchestra, 100 person choir, 3 drummers, 3 guitarists, 1 singer, 1 bass guitarist, and 1 keyboardist)

OK. These are must watch.

1. AC/DC - Shook Me All Night Long. CHeck the crotch shots of the girls on the exy bikes. This clip was pretty damn good when I was 11.

2. The Eels - Souljacker part 1. Just a great clip with a Bo Diddly sound.

3. Lenny Kravitz - Is There Any Love In Your Heart?

This is simply cool as f*ck. Kravitz bores me a bit but his film clips rock. The base player thinks he's clapton, Lenny thinks he's a pimp, the guitarist thinks he's some other rock legend cat (and he stole the guitar solo from Robert Palmers Bad Case of Lovin You), and the drummer is just retro funk. I'm surprised she isn't wearing a pair of roller skates. If anyone remember the Fonzie cartoon from the early 80s I swear the drummer based her costume on fonzie's cartoon sidekick chick.

Songs I hate but with great clips:

1. Benny Benassi - Satisfaction. This reminds me of sex sells ads in the 70s.

2. Outkast - hey ya

Some 80s gear. Not good clips by any means but they still have value.

1. Loverboy - Turn Me Loose.

When I go out and see guys at a pub or club wearing a head band and acting the hero, this song plays in my head. The opening guitar slide and bass riff just crystalise the moment. I believe Eminiem and Limp Bizkit did a cover of this song

2. Kim Wilde - Kids in America

I used to think this girl was totally f***ing rootable when I was 10. I'd still root her.

Some bogan rock. Great concepts.

1. Spiderbait - Black Betty

The idea of Kram drumming on the flat top whilst the car is driving next to him is pretty cool

2. Walk This Way - Aerosmith/Run DMC

1. White Stripes doing Burt Bacharat's I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

Great concept of Kate Moss pole dancing. If you like Kate Moss then all the better.

Oh. My. God.

That is the quintessential Heavy Metal clip. It encompasses everything that is great/tragic about metal. And not a hint of irony.

The guitar solo's (how's the 2nd one? :D ) - the synchronised head banging - the pomp, my god the pomp - the WTF? bass guitar - the motorbikes onstage - the drummer smashing his cymbals with the shattered remains of another cymbal - this song has it all.

I laughed, I cried.

Brilliant.

Old but gold. When smashing sh it up and lighting fires was actually a novelty.

Style Council - Shout to the Top

I've always like this song and clip (although it's nothing special).

WTF does Paul Weller think he's doing? Changed his whole image very quickly after the Jam. Looks like he's been well stuck into the party drugs.

And WTF is Mick Talbot doing making those faces? Is there a black girl with huge rubbery lips kneeling under that piano? Maybe someone should have told him "hey buddy, it's film clip, no need to play so you don't have to make those orgasm faces. Just fake it. Not the orgasm, the piano playing".

Some disco

1. KC and the Sunshine Band - Get Down Tonight

Always had a thing for synchronised dancing horn sections

2. Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music.

This is sooo porno.

If anyone lived in the 70s it was all about pr0n. You could just smell sex in the air. Moustaches for men and girls in hotpants and catsuits. Even every ad on TV had some dirty looking bint with no clothes on giving the viwer **** me eyes whilst advertising the product.
