Who was the best 69?

[Edit: And I've just realised that this was my 1000th post. Classy.]

Congratz, mine came up a month or so ago and I thought what has become of my life
Mixing thought bubbles with anonymous fanatics over the life n times of a Footy Club
Still wouldn't have it any other way. My analyist however was like
:)

Wasn't Brogan still playing basketball when he was Chad's age? No one's doubting Broges was a good player but Chad Wingard he ain't. And I'd take Chad over Brogan even if we had Renouf as our number one ruck right now.

Ironically, Chad probably wishes he was playing/had the physique to play basketball professionally.

Sort of,

my heart says one thing, the head says the other.... It was a spare of the moment comment.....:$

I do understand the context of the thread, and therefore Chad would be the best player of course to don this number, but for me JMAC come to mind regarding numbers, don't know why....

I'd compare Broges to Shane Mumford.

Similar rucking style, similar warrior mentality, massive heart. But whereas Mumford left Geelong and Sydney to carry ruck divisions elsewhere, Brogan was hindered by playing second/third fiddle to a pair of generational freaks in Primus and Lade for the majority of his career.

By the time Lade retired and Dean was carrying the load himself he registered career-best numbers in 2010/2011, at the team's lowest ebb, at age 31-32.

Could've been one of the very very good ones leading the line in his prime.

That said, Wingard is a rare gem and takes the chocolates, which would be happening if he wore virtually any number bar a few.

#35 will always be Chads IMO. That guy was an absolute beast and one of the best players in the league at his peak.

Unfortunately we never got to see JMac at his best. The bloke turned it around and was on the up. Would of been a very handy player in our 2015 premiership team as well. Good move by port to get him right under Richmonds nose.
