Method man

Lloyd Banks

Pharrel(my name is skate board P)

the fact you named the inane talents of method man, lloyd banks and Pharell Williams as the best rappers ahead of some all time classics (Biggie, Big L, Rakim etc) just made me a little happier that i joined this chat forum.

Biggie small and Tupac are sooooo overrated Dre built the Industry, Wu tang showed gangsta rap to the world, Pharrel is different and shows you dont have to be hardcore to rap and Lloyd banks is the best from G-unit better than fitty coz he seems to have the look and the grwon voice.

Biggie Smalls > Tupac ... I never said anything about liking Tupac, though some might claim he's a legend in the Industry, I dont beleive so. Biggie however has the best rhyme flow and delivery. No one (perhaps Big L) can beat him with flow.

Wu-Tang showed Gangsta rap to the world ? The Wu Tang Clan in the early late 80's/ early 90's were introducing rap to NEW YORK. It's a known fact Gangsta rap started in the West (N.W.A, Eazy E, Death Row) etc. So therefore the Wu-Tang Clan never took part in any gangsta rap at all.

As for G-Unit, Fifty, Banks, MOP, Mob Deep and The game (whether he's part of them anymore or not) ... I really dont care much for.

Anyway back to football ...

Hey fair enough on Pharrel and Lloyd 'I really didn't do gay pr0n I swear' Banks but method man is one of the greats.

dude Rakim was gangsta long before NWA came along.

Rakim (not Eric B) may very well have been a gangster in New York in the 80's, but I think Gangsta rap to the extent where people would come out and brag about being a drug dealer (Eazy E was the first to do so) was unheard of before NWA hit the scene in around 88 ?? (and to a lesser extent Tim Dogg), which is why Gangsta rap really took off in the West and became this really big thing world wide.

There is no way known the Wu Tang clan had anything to do with gangsta rap. But in saying that, I do like Rakim .... methodman i could go either way on .... call me crazy but i think in terms of rhyme flow I can think of others I'd prefer, but thats just me, the rest of the world would probably disagree

Slay Master G, Dr Yan and The Crab all spring to mind for me...probably won't find more influential rappers on the Melbourne scene than these guys!

Eric B legitimiately was a gangster - Rakim was only a high school kid when they first started. Eric B was Mike Tyson's bodyguard at one point ffs, he even scared Freddie Foxx out of New York for 3 years.

NWA were teh first big gangsta rap artists, i don't like them that much though - meth has a cool flow (and was awesome live last year).

Wu-Tang were just aweome all around throughout the 90's and brought that real New York lyricism to the whole NWA created gangsta rap style.

Fair to say Biggie was the best then ?

He's my personal favourite, his flow and lyricism was the best ever, so versatile and just changed the kind of lyrics mc's were prepared to use in their songs (i.e. eminem would never have had the same content early on in his career if it weren't for Biggie)
