"Best team all year"

If i could be arsed I'd quote them from our board but I'm busy on 5th crack at the replay

That's a little extreme! jk

I had 4 viewings of the 2014 grand final in less than 24 hours!! (basically watched the match and celebrations live, when Ch 7 concluded the presentation I immediately started it again (from when teams ran out on the ground), then again and again. That was a seriously late night, and I started it again the next day as soon as I got up :D

Who actually cares about this thread? Seriously. It's about who is the best team in September and Richmond were that team. Whatever happens between April and September is largely irrelevant. It just determines who has the best possible chance to be that best team in September.

Coaches and players often say the real season starts in September and whatever happens prior to that is irrelevant and they are 100% correct.

dont think any crows fan would care about being the ''best team all year" atm. means nothing, only the premiership matters. geelong fans would agree that wouldnt care being the best team in 2008 as well. pointless argument where lots of reasons can be made (seems to be from non crow supporters). delete thread.

It's as though Richmond's team could only be viewed through an opaque veil, the product of decades of defeat. Only Martin, Rance, Cotchin and Riewoldt could be seen through the veil. I've read your boards, they're full of "Who's that campaigner?" while the game was on.

Journo's will be forced to conduct a retrospective analysis and acknowledge that e.g. that Grimes bloke with the dodgy hammies shut down Greene and Betts in consecutive weeks and is a formidable defender made of iron, and that Lambert guy from the VFL who spent the last two years looking like a VFL player actually had a damn fine season.

Richmond were by far the best 'team'
Aside from Richmond fans there couldn't be anyone who would argue Richmonds bottom 6 isn't the the least credentialed since maybe the Eagles in 06. They have Richmond TOOC members in the top 4 players and then some really good B players who stepped up and then some frankly average battlers who played out of there skin.

On paper Adelaide had a better team IMO as do a few sides. But those 22 blokes desire to play for each other is as good as you will ever see in a single season. Congratulations tigers.

If every team brought their A game in to the finals it would have been an all Sydney grand final.

Sam Mitchell a Richmond supporter as well I suppose? I mean, he did state that he believes our bottom 6 is better then all of the top 4 teams.

Its my opinion after you have won the flag relax and enjoy it. Everyone looks great in a winning side but I dont think your bottom 6 is the least credentialed ive seen in years.

I'm relaxed, very relaxed actually, in bed lying back enjoying pictures and videos of the great day.

So you think it is the least credentialed or you don't think it is?

And who would you place in our bottom 6 just curiously?

I think its the least credentialed sorry. Grant Thomas said it was the 'worst' group to win a premiership but thats as useful as the Sam Mitchell opinion.

Probably Broad, Townsend, Graham, Castagna and Butler?
Its a credit to your side for playing a game style that suits them perfectly and who knows, in 5 years they may well be fixtures and guns but I reckon individually if you took them and asked them to play in another side who didnt have relentless pressure from all blokes they would struggle big time.

I am bloody jealous BTW. I would love to know how your feeling just once.

Outside of Townsend every single one of those players would slot into other teams 22 quite easily.

Broad and Graham wouldn't. Castagna and Butler are only effective because you guys hunt in packs. If they were at GWS where they had to hunt more space for less reward no one would no of them because they would be NEAFL players.

Graham is 19... big future

Asbury and Grimes need some recognition for protecting Rance and allowing him to play the way he has.

Lol. Premiership winning supporters. The supporters didn't win anything. They simply support the team that did.

Congrats!

It's certainly got the brain of that poster above misfiring. I was cheering the Tigers on and now, not only does he think he won the premiership, but that somehow I'm salty about it. I hope that amidst the celebrations he didn't forget to feed his unicorn

Lost away from the mcg too much to be best for the year.

Lost against bottom 8 sides 2/4 games at etihad
Lost against adelaide in adelaide

The only top 8 team you beat away from home was port - not that you played many top 8 teams away from home

Mcg queens.

Adelaide only beat Essendon (8th) of the Top 8 sides away from home.
Adelaide got beaten by 10 goals by the side that finished 15th. They lost to the teams that finished 9th, 12th, 15th and drew with the team that finished 13th.
Richmond's only losses to non-top 8 teams were to 10th and 11th.
Richmond played 4 times away against other top 8 sides. Adelaide 3 times.
Richmond won 6 games away from the MCG. Adelaide won 6 times away from the Adelaide Oval.

Richmond were clearly at least as good as Adelaide through the regular season, with arguably a tougher draw (certainly against the Top 8 sides).

Then the finals started.
