possibly why you sleep badly and wake up.

Having a tv on when you are trying to sleep is the dumbest thing you can do if you have problems sleeping.

The constant light shifts and noise stimulate your brain, no matter what.

In fact, if you have trouble sleeping, you should stop watching TV at least 30 minutes before you go to bed

When I do have it on I set the off timer so it turns itself off after I fall asleep anyway.

But yeah, I realise it's pretty dumb to have it on in the first place. I try reading sometimes but when it's a good book I get too involved in the story and end up reading for hours.

What the **** is with so many people having troubles sleeping? Surely having to take pills is not a great solution, is this a recent development in the history of society? It seems to be getting worse.

PS. I sleep like a ****ing baby.

You wake up screaming every three hours after shitting yourself?

I can't sleep without a fan on, and yes as mentioned in other posts, I need on in winter, I just point it away from me. Its the noise that helps me sleep.

Only once or twice a year I suffer insomnia, the worst was about 9 months ago. I would get to sleep for just one microsecond and then get a shock, and wake up, this happened about a thousand times, then I cracked the shits and stayed up until 9am and didn't go to work. I still can't find anything different' that I did or ate that day to contribute to the lack of sleep.

I think if you can't sleep after an hour or two, get up and forget about sleeping, if you need to take a day off work, do it.:D
I once was on a train for 12 hours. I didn't get a minutes sleep. the next day I basically fell asleep instantly. I think if you can't sleep just wait.

The TV thing, I've noticed I've been really sleepy infront of the tv in the lounge, gone to bed and can't get to sleep for 30-60 minutes.

Definitely wouldn't rely on sleeping pills, dangerous stuff, I never used to use a fan, then I started using one, and I then relied on one.
