They fall in love, have a kid.

He gets drunk every now and then, lashes out at her.

He cheats on her a bit.

She gets cancer?

He sticks with her and looks after her until old age.

He wishes he could go back... to treat her better? Or just to relive life?

Husband has to be submissive to his bosses, which attacks his manhood.
He gets drunk every now and then, lashes out at her. (The frustrations at work bring this about)

Daughter is now old enough and flies from the nest.
As for many men that need their ego bolstered: He cheats on her a bit.
She gets cancer? Wife gets sick and life starts to come into perspective.
He now wants to engage in all those silly, stupid little games that she loved to play and he didn't when they were younger.

He sticks with her and looks after her until old age.
He wishes he could hold time back from taking her away, but she tells him, "It's O.K. It's alright to let go"

He wishes he could go back... to treat her better? Or just to relive life?
He does exactly what my father did through his last words in life: "........,(Wife), If I had my time again it would all be different."
