From what I've experienced the site has allowed me to hold more players than 45.

That means you can hold everyone, make your trades and delist them later to open up the draft picks u want to take.

So it's not difficult. Once you delist a player he's in the draft pool. If you're not sure don't delist yet.

Even now I have 45 but need a spot to activate 10. I know exactly who I'm delisting. I haven't yet just incase I do another trade and gain my spot that way
Having more than 45 on your list is a whole other question in my opinion.

Previously trades have had to balance? And we have never been able to hold more than 45.

The league has rules doesn’t matter what the site allows imo?

No I thought we said it needs to balance out in the end. Hence tender had a few drafts with no draft picks. We have had blokes trading 4th,5th,6th rounds despite not having free spots for ages. Otherwise how can we trade future picks?? You can't ever balance that out as you don't know your future list.

Don't think it should matter. Only thing that matters is delistings are final, and it's up to you to have spots for your picks come deadline day.

7. At no time may a team hold more than 45 players on their list. For example, if a manager has 5 picks in the draft, but only 3 available roster spots at the beginning of the draft – the manager will forfeit their last two remaining picks.

This is pretty clear imo

Futures are futures and are only picks, you can hold picks as much as you like, as above you forfeit any picks you don’t have space for come draft time.

Lol that rule page is outdated and not up to date. It also says minimum 2 draft picks per season.

7. Teams must have at least two open spots at the end of the season to make way for new draftees.

Yet whenever I pointed out tenderwarrior needed to follow this the rule apparently changed.

It's also no clear. How can you know you hold 5 picks if you have more than 45 players?

6.Every team will be allocated one first round pick and one second round pick after they have two open spots on their team lists. Third and later round picks will be allocated according to the number of open spots you create (delistings and trades) on your team list during the off-season period.

We don't follow this at all. Contradicts what you say about picks are just picks. How can we trade futures 3rds, 4ths if we apparantly have to make a delisting to open the pick

Section IV - Trading of Future Picks
A 1st round future draft pick could only be traded if the coach held either:
1) at least a second 1st round future draft pick,
or
2) at least one pick from each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds of the future draft.

A 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round future draft pick could only be traded if the coach held either:
1) at least a second pick from the corresponding round that they were trading out,
or
2) at least one pick from the 1st round of the future draft.

Does anyone pay attention to this?

Genuinely confused as to why you think it's such a big deal that you went to the rule page. Isn't it easier and less confusing that by deadline day you need to have x spots to use x picks?

In terms of trades having to balance, wasn’t that more a term for live trading during the draft? Which we do despite not having a written rule?

I think lists can be over 45 and we can delist our own delisted players up till list deadline.

I’ve previously delisted a player in the thread but added them back before list deadline.

Happy for universal change.

In terms of more then 45 players, if you trade one pick or player for multiple players you care going to be over 45 until you delist. Zim as 48iah players or something now and I’ve got no problem with this because I have zero access to these blokes outside of trades until draft anyway. However, I know he needs to delist or trade for future picks so I can use this info to try and pick up someone for future picks. It’s similar to the AFL when a team has a gun academy kid coming in, teams know they are going to offload their good picks for a host of later picks and future picks so they capitalise.

I do think we really need to update the rules though so they are readily available and we are all on the same page.

I feel having more than 48 opens the door to hold them for months during preseason and then delist even after practice matches have started. It’s a distinct advantage.

Trades have always had to balance during the season or if not balance you can’t surpass 45 due to the UF software?

That’s just my thoughts

Think there's more positives than negatives. It created a whole heap of trades. Including other trades where thender traded out pick 6 to get 10 to me.

Hardly think anyone is on the edge of their seat to see if I delist Fogarty over Lever. Doesn't make sense to me to have a random restriction like that yet it's all good to trade selections we never really intended to use. How is it fair when coaches upgrade a pick using picks they havent really opened up through delistings? Trading a 3rd, 4th, 5th to a side they see has many list spots? Happens all the time. These things are creating trade movement.

Not to mention our delist deadline and draft commencement is always BEFORE a game has been played. So there is no advantage. All we are doing is trying to create trade movement.

I think for Flaps it was that someone was OOC with their club, he delisted them, then they got a supplemental spot and eventually a contract at another club. flaps would know.
Yeah i remember this happening. I can't remember the player or year though. It was pretty annoying, though. haha.

I think the end solution was just that the player went into the draft pool and i had bad luck.

Take a minute this week to triple check your lists are correct.

For example I noticed Bailey Humphrey in the free agent pool and I’m not sure if he has been delisted or not added to his original list KissKiss

I’m sure there is a couple more players needing to be added still. I had the same issue where I forgot about a couple of blokes for several weeks.

Being the first year perhaps if any of us notice these things we can all just add that player to their team (if it's obvious)

Then everyone recheck their delistings and draft picks

I need a decent mid - 25 years and under.

I’ll table the JJ 2026 1st rounder and pick 15 if anyone is keen to get a deal done. Obviously needs to be a decent player to close it but the offer is there.

B. Grundy (SYD - RUC)
T. Mitchell (COL - MID)
T. Kelly (WC - MID)
T. Atkins (GEE - MID)
J. Crisp (COL - MID)
H. Andrews (BL - DEF)
Brodie Smith (AD - DEF)
Oskar Baker (WB - MID)
Sam Powell-Pepper (PA - FWD)

Other players are all available on request.

Still got all these young kids on the trade table for anyone interested :)

FWIW I propose this date just become locked in every year from now on.

Which would mean a trade deadline a few days prior to allow our admin to lock in lists and migration on the platform, giving an opportunity for everyone to look over it for discrepancies.

Regardless of an AFL fixture, we need set hard dates every year IMO so it becomes a regular time set before the season kicks off and we're not scrambling.

How does this look to everyone?
11:59pm AEDT, Sunday Jan 19
- Coaches must have indicated that they're playing for the upcoming season. Replacement coaches from waiting list can apply to join.
11:59pm AEDT, Sunday Jan 26 (Australia Day) - TRADE DEADLINE, lists finalised
8am AEDT, Saturday Feb 1 - BFDL Draft starts. Timer begins.
Tuesday 25 February - AFL Preseason starts
Thursday March 6 - AFL Season Opening Round starts

Also, it was never really confirmed with any of this, but are we aiming for certain dates from here?

Draft is due to open on keeper early Feb. I’m keen to get drafting too but we have plenty of time. Once we get insight of draft possible start dates we need to make sure everyone is given a chance to see the start time and set any rankings. I think on or after the 10th of Feb is looking very likely with lists locked in 8th of Feb.

This gives us a month and a half to draft and we are usually done in about 10 days.
