I was impressed by East Point today. After getting jumped early by North City they worked hard to get back into the contest.

Yes must agree what a wonderful effort to be out scored in only 3 of the 4 quarters. No doubt some people will regard your comment as smug arrogant and patronising but I think its great that the 'royal family' of Ballarat football can give a little pat on the back to one of the other 10 shitty little clubs making up the numbers. Hopefully this sort of encouragement can eventually lead to some more meaningful competition for North. Three cheers for Bluejet and GO NORTH.

No, my comment was complimenting East Point as I like the way that they play the game.
Impressive rant though.

Yeah he did, played his first game on the weekend. 40 minute mark of the second half on Bfl tv if you want to have a look.
had a look, all he did was scruff the guy, no punches thrown, assume he gets nothing

but being from darley and being the bfl he will probably get life, or a public stoning in sturt street

how about the free kick to ballarat on their forward flank about a minute earlier, what is going on there umpire?

Sunbury on the move!!

The Ballarat FNL would like to advise all member Clubs that on Wednesday 14th May we were advised by the Sunbury FNC that their Club is conducting an investigation into the future of their club. The aim if this investigation is to identify affiliation in which AFL Victoria league will provide their club with the best opportunity for a sustainable and viable future. As part of their investigation the Club will be holding discussions with AFL Victoria, the Ballarat FNL, the Bendigo FNL, and the Riddell District FNL.

Would be surprised if the RDFL teams allowed them to join their comp. Also if Sunbury left not sure how long the Melton teams and maybe even Darley would stay. Interesting times......

Any word as to why Sunbury want to move????

Heard its been driven by only 1 person, their president who wont be there next year.Going to the RDFL would be a backwards step in standard but may lift crowd numbers which are bigger than what you get in the BFL also may want to go back to the RDFL to align themselves back with their juniors. Why go to Bendigo where the travel is more and they could not afford to go to Essendon could not compete with the massive player payments

Bit of talk about adding a second division in the future. What are peoples thoughts on this? In all honesty I can't make up my mind. I have seen such a system work really well in the Ammos but I would hate to see a situation like the WRFL currently have where teams that go up are 10 goals off 8th place and clubs just don't want to go up.

Where are they going to find another 9 clubs to create 2 viable divisions? The chfl? They won't have a bar of it. Their clubs have a completely different junior set up for a start so Buninyong would be the only club with any hope of getting junior numbers to make the cross over. It will never happen.

Merrigan is correct, the CHFL clubs won't want a bar if it.
Their hand may be forced down the track if some of the Eastern bloc clubs leave however, and force AFL Goldfields to act.

It would have drastic consequences but they may feel they have no alternative if sunbury and the likes walk.

Your mob is one of the favourites if not outright favourite for the flag this year. What would happen if they had to join the bfl? The junior football and netball sides couldn't stay in the chfl so you would have to find enough junior footballers to fill 2 u16, 2 u14, 2 u12 & 2 u10 sides to join the bfl junior comp. Or have no juniors at all. Great future in that option. Oh & no more recruiting from the bfl.

Tbh merrigan we are badly battling for u14.5s this year, despite being less than 10 minutes from ballarat and having probably the best facility in the ballarat district with the exception of north.

The main reason the CHFL has not been split to two divisions is due to concerns re the juniors and the netball so being forced into ballarat would only exacerbate the problem.

Senior football wise would be an interesting movement. I'm not for a minute suggesting that the CHFL is a higher standard but I think quite a few of the Ballarat clubs would need to pull their fingers out big time as a lot of them are not as big a spenders as the upper CHFL clubs and wouldn't have the carrot of being a major league club to dangle anymore.

Still it's a long way off yet, but clubs need to be on their toes in case any thing eventuates down the track.

Melton, Melton South and Bacchus Marsh have poor crowds and bring nothing to the table. They're irrelevant clubs. Darley and Sunbury leaving would be disastrous for the league. You may think this is Darley bias, but I have spoken with a number of representatives from clubs in Ballarat who say their home games against those two sides are their most profitable for the season.

Interesting proposal put forward by Darley -Eastern sides could split to create new competition.

It is very interesting and makes a lot of sense. To take it a step further would Kyneton be a viable option as well? There is no way any chfl clubs could compete with a VFL backed Nth City in the bfl so forget that. The only option for the Ballarat league would be to join with the remaining Bendigo clubs to form a Western or Central Goldfields league. Maybe perennial strugglers Sebas could drop back to chfl & Maryborough & Castlemaine drop down to mcdfl leaving an 11 team league.
