After watching the footage of the Darley incident on the Courier footy Facebook page, (no doubt AFL Goldfields are peeved that the video was osted) but I can't work out exactly what happened. It appears like a Darley player is confronted by a supporter, then other players intervene to remove him. Can't really see much happen, but what sort of supporter attacks a player, its bizarre! Any wonder Scottland was in the middle of it, good on him for trying to protect his players. Unless I'm missing something significant I can't see how Darley can face any penalty for the incident, the only penalty should be dished out by the police to the supporters, no club needs supporters that are prepared to act like this, get rid of them!

So from everything I've read this appears to be a Darley incident and nothing to do with North at all. Darley supporter acting up...Darely players getting involved to sort it out???

Yes that's right Roota, seems no involvement from North at all, Darley have acknowledged this in their statement on Facebook.

Just posted on the Courier website: "Devils suspend president, dish out supporter bans in wake of on-field brawl"

What needs to be investigated, surely just a club issue and the devils just cop the embarrassment and shame of it all. Apart from giving the umpires a hard time there is no league issue. Seems to be blown way out of proportion IMO.
If that is the best footage there is, then there is not a great deal happening by the looks. Go watch a WRFL game, especially the lower divisions, probably worse things than this every week.

Seems I went a bit early with this post. Just heard a bit more of what happened. There may be a couple of regretful brothers at Darley. Assuming the president may not be the only fall-guy.

Wtf is going on over there??
You mean the East clubs?
South is a bit more of a bad look really. Coaches can’t be fighting their players, especially juniors. Darley by the sounds of it was some bad decisions and misunderstandings that led to something stupidly escalating further than it should.
Apart from that the East clubs have won the last three flags and will most likely make it 4, so not all doom and gloom this way.

Scotlands brother or so the rumour goes. Scotland himself also involved apparently sticking up for his brother, might be bullshit though.

You would hope Heath had learned his lesson from an incident a few years back when he was slapped with a court conviction for sticking up for his brother. If what you say is true, it might be better for all involved if the brother stays home.

Everyone seems to have overlooked the great round of football we had last week. Three games involving five of the current top six separated by a total of 10 points. Maybe it is not as clear cut as first thought. Didn’t think Darley could beat north, also that Sunbury could beat East. I see that a few of Easts VFL boys did not play though. Marsh maybe just had an ordinary day against the Lakers.
Will be an interesting run home.

Given the new footage of the brawl at darley last week, it's fair to say the clubs statement is complete rubbish and at least 3 of the players were heavily involved. 9 and 19 definitely in there and should face the same fate as their president. Club is a mess, but as its Darley all will be swept under the rug and their loyal supporters will say it was nothing. Had it been the usual whipping boys, South, well it would have had everyone up in arms demanding they be kicked out of the league.

South u18’s coach beat up a minor this week?? Hardly any mention.
Where do the thoughts come from that Darley get looked after and things are swept under the rug? They get shafted by umpires and tribunal at every opportunity.
Not defending them as it is a shameful scene, and they deserve everything they get. What has been swept under the rug in the past, you seem to know a bit?

Unsure as to why the courier has felt the need to not report on the south blue, their 18s coach overstepped the mark well and truly. Deserves more attention certainly. Given your love for sticking the boot in to South, I can only assume you would have been front and center calling for them to be ejected from the league had it been them fighting the way darley did. Instead others on here, yourself included seem to want to forget it happened. Not happening, was a blight on the league, an embarrassment to the club and all involved should be held accountable, being the players clearly shown in the video. But it's not gonna happen.

I don’t want any team kicked out. Both are internal issues at the clubs and nothing they should get severe penalties for. The opposition were not harmed or impacted. It is bad press for the league however, but what do you want as a penalty? Darley have acted, as have South. I don’t know what the league can do, fines? Good behaviour bonds?

Scotland would be wise to keep his nose clear of these sorts of incidents given his track record.
All in all, it was a pretty poor weekend for footy in the region and there's nothing to be gained in finger pointing, we just need to ensure that members of our respective clubs act appropriately to ensure that there are no repeats of the crap at the weekend.

Moving forward it looks like it should be a good weekend of footy, hopefully we get some decent weather for it.

Be interesting to see what Darley can dish up this week, they lost another two mids in Scotland and I think Young. Means they will have 5 or 6 of their best midfielders out. Lots of the workload now on Kennedy.
My picks are
Sunbury over lakers
East over Darley
North over Melton
South over Redan
Marsh over Sebas

Well done Slammer put the crap to one side!
There's some crucial games for most teams this weekend.
Sunbury just over Lakers, just!
East comfortably over Darley (Too many missing from Darley)
Melton over North, still a fan of Melton might nearly finish North's season, especially having East next week.
Redan over South, Redan aren't far off the pace.
Marsh comfortably over Sebas. Might pick Sebas at home but not at the Marsh
