Surely this game is now on the cards after the Bellarine's loss to Yarra Valley Mountain District. From what I hear the GDFL are definitely keen, it all rests on the VCFL and Football Geelong coming to the party. I really hope it happens, because having talked it through and come up with the best 22 for each league with a few mates, it would be a great fixture, make plenty of cash and attract at least 10,000 people if they played it at Skilled

*Firstly it would not attract close to 10,000 lets get serious.

*I'd much rather see the game played at St Albans (still a neutral venue) than Skilled, the atmosphere at GFL finals is shocking and you wouldn't get close to the crowds they get.

*Finally the BFL would put an end to all the ridicules debate comparing leagues winning by 15+ goals:thumbsu:

Fair post there randy guy, its great to have someone agree with me that kardina park is a shit place for local footy:thumbsu:

I dont think it'll happen tho coz i personally think the bfl wouldn't want to maybe lose there mantle as the 2nd best league in geelong.

But i disagree with your last call, while the bfl probably has more depth than gdfl thru out the whole league i honestly believe if both comps had there best 22 playing against each other i think the gdfl would win.

Play it at West.

Agree entirely on point 2. The BFL have everything to loose in this and therefore it wont happen.

Agree it would be much closer than 15 goals. Does anyone have access to the BFL team from the weekend to match up against.

guys it's a real chance of happening anyway, GDFL are applying for Interleague next season and it's likely that after their recent loss the BFL will fall back to the "D" pool meaning they'd probably come up against each other..

can confirm that Neville Whitley and Lee Hartman are both keen for this match to take place and have spoken about it.. i'd say it's about a 95% chance of happening next season which i'm stoked about:thumbsu:

See some bloke wrote in the editorial section of the addy today saying it would be great to see the 2 leagues play off in front of 5000 people at skilled. I think everyone agrees it'll be good to see this game happen but wats with people thinking skilled is a great venue for local finals, interleague etc? If we had local leagues that could attract 20-25,000 to games than skilled would be perfect, but it doesnt happen so surely having 5-10,000 at a ground like st albans, west or even drysdale would make it a much better spectacle. Anyone agree/disagree?

I agree entirely. Have played there and although you love the surface, rooms etc it lacks in atmosphere as the crowd is spread all over the joint. From that aspect you are better off at a local ground where the punters either all squash up near the bar/club rooms, etc or if there are a few line the fence where you can hear them praise/abuse you.

Not bad guru, but do you think blokes like nicholls, o'toole, riccardi, grgic, wallace would bother playin? Them few i just mentioned have all played a lot higher standard and id just be worried they'd continue the current trend of players not wanting to play inter league.

But on the other hand a chance to knock off a supposed " higher league " mite see all the gdfl big guns turn out.

Just looking at your side guru id reckn the bfl would be very worried and personally think the gdfl would have no problems knocking them off.

That GDFL side does look handy, but like TF says I'd be interested to see how many of the older guys put their hand up. Then again, the Bellarine is probably in the same boat

I've included my best 22 for the Bellarine below:
Bellarine Best 22

B Christian Robertson (Ang) Luke Daffy (Port) Mitch Herbison (BH)

HB Ben Carmichael (Drys) Travis Robertson (GA) Ben Kennedy (Torq)

C Luke Matthews (Drys) James Dalton (OG) – capt Mitch Scott (Drys)

HF Daniel Hermans (Modda) Michael Fowkes (Torq) Tim Carson (Torq)

F Tom McArelin (GA) Lucas Murphy (BH) Matthew Jovanovic (OG)

R Lindsay Smith (GA) Tim Clark (GA) -vc Stuart Whitelaw (Queens)

Inter. Roscoe Holmes (Queens) Daniel Gage (Drys) Trevor Edwards (GA) Ben Ricardo (OG)

HB: Z. Hickleton J.Kelly B.Nicholls

C: N.Lewis R.O'Toole A.Woods

HF: P.Riccardi B.Grgic G.Wallace

F: O. Lewis A.Scrobalak R.Closter

Rucks: J. Huybens C.Trotter M.Curtis
Int: M. Stewart, R. Coy, D. Muir, H. Williams

F*ck thats 2 strong sides, hopefully this game will get the go ahead next season. Interesting with the blokes who picked the 2 sides brad edwards wasnt named by anyone in the gdfl side and id have scott hovey or adam leslie in the bfl side wat do you think footyecho?

No place in either side for Darren Mathisen who has been full back in team of the year for the last 2 years and back pocket the year before? And Todd Elsey, 10 goals clear and kicked 8 against thomsons backline saturday also doesnt get a mention? Also Bannocks ruckman, Dawber, better value than Stewart

If that side represents the best of GDFL you should consider moving the game to Bakers Oval..very old and very slow...BFL would carve that side up. If the GDFL is serious about beating Bellarine then its time to pension of at least half if not all of your 30+ players and throw in some of the young talent that has leg speed and more athletic ability than the old guard, because thats the sort of team you will face from the Bellarine.

Have to agree mate way too old and slow 10 years ago some of them wld of been great but footy is a very fast moving game and u need those young guys, some of them very exciting to watch timeto move forward not backwards.:) GO BLUE BOYS FEVS BACK

Hovey is an interesting one, probably just missed out on my side. Adam Leslie was probably one of the stiffest, I'd probably slot him in at least on the bench in reflection. Brent Taylor from Drysdale is another one who has been out with injury that probably slipped my mind for that reason

must say good job on the team, but very very very tough on todd elsey.
i have seen him play, and he kicked 8 in a losing side, and he kicks bags every other week

You have got to be joking mate. either your just extremely one sided or have a pea for a brain. Muir would shit all over them players and has obviously proven himself to the right people over the years having been in falcons and now at VFL level. i cant belive no one has named him to start on the field. Also Jimmy Huybens from inverliegh would be the best tap ruckman in the GDFL by far
