Still baffled over how weak the BDO lineup is.... What do they do with all that money? Buy houses made of gold?

At least Maddah uses the increasing revenue to improve on band selection. Not the most popular guy but at least he strives for upper echelon talent.

Pray tell, who is this upper echelon 'talent' on the soundwave lineup? Limp Bizkit? Marilyn Manson? Slipknot?

BDO in Melbourne has sold out in:

08 - Rage/Bjork/Arcade Fire
10 - Muse/Powderfinger
11 - Tool/Rammstein

In fact 2010 was dangerously full in Melbourne, where they sold too many tix IMO. I think 07 (Tool/Muse/Killers) sold out too. So that's 4 out of the last 5 that sold out, with Neil Young in 09 being the wrong choice for this festival, even though he played a magnificent set that even me as a non-fan enjoyed.

Its all about personal taste, I want to see KanYe and Soundgarden, love Kasabian and Royksopp too + several others of interest. However, I have read that KanYe will play for 1 hr 45 mins and Soundgarden for 90 mins and Soundgarden cannot start in early evening (daylight), so reading between the lines they will be on at the same time as KanYe. Not sure if the two headliners have ever clashed at a major festival before.

I am only going for kanye and soundgarden, they clash I and many others will not be happy, no way they will have the headliners on at the same time, although the BDO is a rabble ATM so who knows.

Poor choice of wording, and no I am not a fan of any of those listed, but thanks for the assumption.

I of course mean big name acts. Sorry for the confusion.
I'll be primarily there for Machine Head, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Bad Religion, Devin Townsend etc etc.

Thanks to you I revisited the article that is on FasterLouder (see below) and I misread the bit below last week. When I read it again I realised it referred to the reason Perth and Adelaide cannot have KanYe and Soundgarden.

So we can pretty well assume that the will main stages (in Melbourne) will end with:

5.45-6.45 Kasabian
6.45-8.15 Soundgarden
8.15-10.00 KanYe

...which is bl00dy strong in my book.

I am worried about not being able to see Noel Gallagher's band, and I suppose it is out of them and The Living End as to who would headline the Green Stage - Noel by a fookin mile for me.....which means I may leave KanYe after and hour and see half of both of them.

Set Times
Another significant complication was the length of the set times planned for festival headliners Kanye West and Soundgarden; Kanye is scheduled to perform a 1 hour 45 minute show, while Soundgarden will be playing for roughly 90 minutes.
According to Ken West this meant that “even if they were able to merge onto one stage it’s at least a one hour change over so it kind of meant that Soundgarden would be on at six o’clock in the afternoon – that wasn’t going to work for them.”
