For the bulldogs to succeed to the next level, we need some big men to stand up.
Now with the loss of Darcy, Williams & Walsh to injury. Given that Skip hasn't got it and Granty's getting on (although he's been a champ).......who will be the Big man / men at the dogs who can influence our team into the finals in 2006?

If Eade sees fit to back him, I'm prepared to endorse him for 2006. Not expecting him to be All Australian or anything, but if he can regain some of his pre season training form and confidence then he can add some value to our team as we aim for success.

Its a difficult question to answer beause there in no obvious talent. Wight might become a handy defender but I cant see him doing that much this year. Skipper is a chance and just needs to get confident in his own ability. Wells is not ready. Davidson needs to get things go ealr in the season if he is to be added to the senior list.

Morgan is probably our best bet IF he stays healthy.

With one hand firmly placed on timber while typing with the other. While my expectations are well within reasonable limits. I feel that the great man, the man that we know is capable of doing anything on his day. has an opportunity to follow in the foot steps of a previous bearer of the number 3.

He showed signs last year that his "too good for this comp abilities" were returning to him after a few years of injury and ineffective support around him.

The opposition teams will be forced to play their best defender on him in the forward line, and they will be tagging him in the backline, it will prove futile. The solid preseason he has obviously enjoyed will add fuel to his fire.

I suspect the Rocket may have been ensuring his match fitness by playing him in most rehearsals, while minimising his impact by experiments with other players.

I think he has at least 12-15 quality vote getting home and away games, with some special finals games in him.

With that in mind it may be enough to collect a charlie he deserves that was ripped off him by an ineffective and corrupt administrator. At 251-1 get in early, he'll be favourite by round five.

Bit harsh in my books. He seems to be a confidence player, lets hope the penny drops at some stage - just like it did for Street halfway through last season. The tall one is now our no 1 ruckman. If Skipper is kept away from ruck as much as possible (193cm is damn short for a ruckman these days) and allowed to develop as a CHF or CHB for a few games at Werribee, he may just come back with a bit more of an aggressive atitude and provide some service this year.

And that in a nutshell is Skip's problem.

Skip is a ruckman that we are trying to turn into a CHF.

Very few ruckmen have successfully become full time KP's. Plenty have had good games as pinch-hitters, but not many have been able to do it week-in, week-out.

Benny Gale is one who did, but I can't think of too many more (Peter Welsh, perhaps?).

It is made particularly harder to turn him into a genuine KPP when he is not great in the air.I tend to agree that he is pretty competitive in the ruck and has some tools that make him dangerous around the ground playing as a ruckmen but as KPP the only real thing he has going for him is that he times his leads pretty well. That is nullified somewhat by his lack of pace and poor hands in front of his eyes.We should get a fair idea of where Skip is heading in these first couple of rounds.

Expect to see quite a bit of Cameron Wight in the red, white & blue this season, im a little disappointed with Skip, was showing so much over the summer, some of the reports coming through, was really starting to hit his straps, but the pre season games, he's gone backwards, Wighty is now ahead of skip in the pekking order IMO.

Watch out for Adam Morgan this season as well, looks as fit as he's ever been, was told by Rocket to pull his head in and get fit, and so far has done everything required from what i know, looking really good as well against the Saints at Optus a few weeks back, his agro is just supurb as well, look out for some big hits by Morgs this season.

As for where he plays, possibly depends on where Granty is, could see Morgs switching from CHF & CHB quite often in 2006.

Morgan could be VERY valuable to us this year. If he get get on the field and stay there, he could almost be the missing link. I know he'll never be a star, but if he can be solid for us, break even most weeks, then we'll be laughing.

I think Wells should get a few games towards the end of the season, if for no other reason than to give him a taste of AFL footy. If he plays 3 to 4 games and realises the intensity, speed and skill required it could help with his development leading into 2007.
