So now we are looking at importing gas … FFS it’s criminal

For example, last month, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation provided Australia’s biggest gas corporation, Woodside, with A$1.5 billion in loans to develop the Scarborough gas field offshore from Western Australia. Japanese power utility JERA also received $1.2billion from the Japanese bank to acquire a 15% stake in the project, gaining rights to a share of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced.

Without this kind of financial support, new gas projects would be less likely to proceed.

Japan buys gas from us, keeps what it needs and then sells the rest.

Staunch Unions v Big Mining

I think the mistake the unions are making as far as unionising the Pilbara is that they're travelling to sites and holding meetings under the prying eyes of management. People are afraid if they attend a meeting a target will be out on their back (they are correct).

It would, imo, be far more effective if they targetted the workers when they are back in Perth on their r&r.
