Japanese power utility JERA also received $1.2billion from the Japanese bank to acquire a 15% stake in the project, gaining rights to a share of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced.

Without this kind of financial support, new gas projects would be less likely to proceed.

Staunch Unions v Big Mining

I think the mistake the unions are making as far as unionising the Pilbara is that they're travelling to sites and holding meetings under the prying eyes of management. People are afraid if they attend a meeting a target will be out on their back (they are correct).

It would, imo, be far more effective if they targetted the workers when they are back in Perth on their r&r.
