Yep, looks really good however he will be dropped next week. Not old enough to play.

such a good indicator for North Adelaide and a bad indicator for Norwood

Davis (North's #3 key back behind McIntyre and White) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Young (Norwood's #1)

sorry, couldn't resist pumping up North :p

Didn't North's coach call Davis the best tall defender in the league last year?

Phil has looked great but if he is meant to be a forward long term I'd like to see him take a few really strong one grab marks, he had a couple of chances in this game but dropped them.

Played very well though.

I didn't get to see him on TV last week since I was at the ground. He really looked very good, barely put a foot wrong. Love his kick, I've always been impressed with that.

With Davis I get the feeling that finding the right match-up for him will be the key. As long as he's not on a player that can exploit his lack of pace, he should be able to beat most other second or third-option forwards.

I love Phil.

Just does the right thing. Can't wait until he bulks up.

He spreads for others, kicks to the right places, doesn't handball to those under more pressure.

That Free against for the spoil was bullshit.

Want a geez at him as a forward but that won't happen until bock stevens or both are back.

+1 for Philthy, dirty, love.

Id leave him back for now. Good place for him to learn, especially how we're travelling. If they cant/dont want to combine tip with tex cant see how a raw player would fit in up there. He may end up there eventually.

BAck not necersarily a fun place to be atm. When Bock and Stevens comes back, he goes forward and we adjust the forward structure. He must play the remaining games as long as his form stays true.

But Stevens may go forward and he can play 3rd tall. Though there's a lot of qick 3rd tall forwards out there.

As much as I'd be delighted if he turns out to be a strong tall target up forward for us, I do like what he offers to us down back. He seems to have several of the talents required - reads the ball in flight well, has a dynamite spoil on him, is not afraid to make body contact and seems good at minding a player. Again, he needs to have the right match-up, but to my eyes he looks like a natural defender. He's good on the rebound too, did he even mess up one kick today? I don't recall it if he did.

It would be great if he could turn into a tall forward, but I'd be more than happy to see him stay down back a while longer as well.

looking all class! did i see him beat aker on the ground in a one on one?

That was probably the individual highlight of the night for us :thumbsu: From what I saw tonight (and I must admit I haven't seen a lot of him at SANFL level...) he's really adept at using his body to make life difficult for his opponent at ground level. Without actually infringing his opponent (that's right umpire) he manages to prevent their access to the ball, all while keeping his own centre of gravity constant and edging towards the ball. Brilliant signs for a big dude :thumbsu:

Hopefully will become a real feature of his game once he puts on some more weight, which to my eyes he is finally starting to do.

Davis was close to our best tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a Rising Star nom.

His use of the ball was a joy to watch after watching some of the ball butcherers in our side.

Calm, collected and takes the right option, which makes him pretty rare in our side at the moment.

His handballs were generally long and to advantage.

A genuine player of the future -he must stay in the side and be allowed to establish himself as a regular in the best 22.

could not agree more.

I know I tried, seriously I meditated and positively visualised, but found I actually was unable to agree any more than I already do.

my agree is maxed out :D

First time I've had the pleasure to see "Big Phill" in action and I have to say Rendell is a genius.

He seems very smart and doesn't panic under pressure, has poise and a very reliable kick, will make a perfect defender.

But when he starts to run, it looks a little comical until his bum swagger gets into rythm.:p
