Well that important sunday game did make my week with a score of 1075 from 9 plyrs plus ablett capt

coming up against the undefeated stevie wonders, hopefully will end his streak and make my way to second on the ladder

what trades are others doing ??

I think you should beat me tbh, your mids & forwards are better than mine. I've never really got on top of my forwards this year and Brennans injury doesn't help.
Not sure what trades I'll make if any, I want rid of Warren for SJ/Pav/Goodes but I may hold off.

Got smashed in Eliminator as well

Pretty much have to concede defeat this week. I get a Fwd & Ruck donut thanks to Pods/Brennan and Clark.

Hoping the Chapman withdrawal rumours are true and Duncan can spare me a double donut.

Re: BigFooty Division 16

The good times started on Friday night with some huge scores from Collingwood and Freo players and led to some big scores this week - only three teams scored less than 2000 points.

As a league, we continued to yo-yo in the rankings. Our average went up 18 points to 2011 per team per week and our ranking up to 113th. This is either a sign that our picks are improving or that we are, overall, a trade-happy league.

Only one unbeaten team and one winless team remain. There were some badly needed wins as things tightened up a little on the ladder, with five teams outside the Top 8 on percentage only:

  • Bald Eagle 2,123 improved to 2 and 3 by beating Nasty Nige 1,986.
  • Lunatic Fringe 2,215 won in a close one from Team Goober 2,193, who recorded the highest losing score.
  • Stevies Wonders 2,183 scored well also but correctly predicted the loss to swanton 2,291. Both teams are now on 4 and 1.
  • A big improvement saw Impromptu 2,260 beat the over-apostrophed Horj's Hero's 2,056 and move to 3 and 2.
  • You know things are going your way when you kick the second lowest score in the league and win as Quality Stingrays7 1,948 did against Spreadsheet Elite 1,937. To make matters worse, Jason Gram went down early in the late game and the Elite were left 11 agonising points short of their first win. Write it down as the luckiest win of the year.
  • The previously unbeaten Barnzy's Guns 2,120 were beaten in a close one by footyfix 2,149. With some better luck this week, footyfix advance to 2 and 3 to keep in touch with the top 8.
  • Mugs Away 2,196 beat Gutwrenching Bulls 2,073 leaving both teams at 2 and 3.
  • Last but not least, A Bunch Of Hacks 2,135 scored well but were brutalised by Brutal Deluxe 2,313, which I think this is the biggest score all year.
In individual scoring, swanton went further ahead of the pack and is now up to 411th. Well done swanton, all this and you still have a secret weapon (Relton Roberts) on your list. With the huge score this week, Brutal Deluxe just passed Barnzy to be the second highest ranked team.

The games this week:

Bald Eagle vs Impromptu

Lunatic Fringe vs swanton

Stevies Wonders vs Team Goober

Horj's Hero's vs Nasty Nige

Quality Stingrays7 vs Brutal Deluxe

Barnzy's Guns vs Gutwrenching Bulls

Mugs Away vs footyfix

A Bunch Of Hacks vs Spreadsheet Elite

nice week for me for a change. awesome by brutal deluxe. his team is solid. now to hold for a few weeks without injuries and let rookies buy me some honey.

I can cop that on the chin. 2,135 is a score I am happy with.

:p:eek:

Hopefully I don't need to use one this week although I may be copping a zero with Hille.

It didn't look good, but how can you guess what will happen at the tribunal these days.

On the basis that it was 10 times worse than what Mumford did, he gets 20-30 weeks.

EDIT: Naturally, he got off.

Re: BigFooty Division 16

Hahaha I like the over-apostrophe comment. But for the record I actually scored 2127 this week. I have to make the scoreline abit more respectable :D

Apologies Horj, though I am more interested in being a smartass than being accurate.

I have now racked up a league leading 3 players (including Daniel Connors) suspended by their clubs. If only they gave away cars for that.

Re: BigFooty Division 16

Round 9 was a weird week for scoring in DT - many of the biggest scores came from backmen, including an absurd 192 from Brian Lake, as did the lowest, a zero from Tadgh Kennelly. His owners copped the donut as the loophole from previous years was closed, meaning zeroes from players who took part in a match are now counted (umm, as zero).

Also thug and part-time footballer David Hille feasted upon Richmond and had 156 points, yet Aaron Sandliands could only score 67 up against the fairly unimposing Pyke/Playfair combination.

Things seem even more topsy turvy when we are told that Barry Hall needs more protection from the umpires and that he is the victim of cheap shots.

Division 16 cracked the top 100 leagues moving up to 96th on an average per team per week of 2015. Well done everyone*.

Well done also to the Spreadsheet Elite for pulling out their first league win, particularly after copping a little bit from me and a lot from himself. I understand a parade in the streets of Newcastle is being hastily organised.

In the league, the top 4 teams have put a space on the rest of the competition, with 2 wins separating fourth from fifth:

In individual scoring, swanton climbed higher again to 326th place, with Barnzy and Brutal Deluxe staging a ding dong battle for second spot. Those two teams go head to head this week in a league game:

Bald Eagle vs swanton

Lunatic Fringe vs Impromptu

Stevies Wonders vs Nasty Nige

Horj's Hero's vs Team Goober

Quality Stingrays7 vs Gutwrenching Bulls

Barnzy's Guns vs Brutal Deluxe

Mugs Awayvs Spreadsheet Elite

A Bunch Of Hacks vs footyfix

* Except for the Hacks and the Stingrays who got nowhere near that score.

LF I really enjoy reading your weekly roundups and this is no exception.

A lucky win for me as put Kennely as an emergency at the last minute and thought I'd made a bad move in putting Sandi as Captain but luckily Prompts did the same thing!

The round reports are always a good read. Keep up the good work LF :thumbsu:

A solid score of 2,113 saw me climb 11,569 places into 37,677th. Slowly reagaining some pride. Hopefully by seasons end I'll crack the top 10,000.

Re: BigFooty Division 16

Yeah I deserve a bake for this week's performance. Kennelly hurt me terribly but he wasn't alone. J Brown is hurting me with his dodgy groin and Vince getting on the piss and then rolling his ankle left me short. But my biggest concern is my cheaper players who are having to play at the moment and will probably continue to have to for the next few weeks: Silvagni, Ballantyne, Gumbleton, and Rockliff all have been playing and with a trade wasted on Kennelly I may only get rid of one other this week.:(

Good to hear from you Jezzza - I definitely would have played Kennelly ahead of Maguire myself. Great call.

I am sure a lot of people would have picked Sandi as their captain this week. Looked like a pretty easy game for him and it was hard to know what the scoring would be like in Geelong vs Collingwood.

I have a lot of the same problems Dood. I don't have Kennelly or Brown thankfully (Brown looks completely shot) but I do have Vince and a bunch of very average forwards.

Must-win game for me against Impromptu this week.

When am I going to learn to just leave Bartel as my captain? I took a punt on Sandi and paid dearly, as usual when I do risky things. Anyway I am over J Brown finaly and he will bw gonski this week.

all i ask for is my forwards do something. obviously too hard for some of them. had a feeling about kenelly and benched him. not sure whether to trade or keep. same with brown pretty much. otherwise on the fringe atm.

Should get a much-needed win this week against the Stingrays, although a lot of his players are very inconsistent so if they all have 100+ days... I could be in trouble!

some tight games on the weekend saw me just get up over spreadsheet and looks like some other teams took hits on the weekend. heading for the halfway mark and my team's almost set with a few minor tweaks to go like prolly pav and chapman to solidfy my forward line.

Scoring got a little tougher in Round 10, particularly after Michael Barlow was an unexpected gameday withdrawal. Barlow is in every team in the league and, with Jack Trengove also being rested, this tested each teams midfield depth.

Combine that with some poor scores by key players (for example Bartel, Gia and O'Keeffe) and many of us could not reach 2,000. And some of those who copped a zero fell a fair bit short of that.

Special mention this round has to go to Stevie's Wonders who had the league highest score for the third time in five weeks. This time though, it was with a completely dominating score that was nearly 200 points more than anyone else in the league scored. Well done, Stevie.

In league games, there were a few close games including Barnzy's Guns pipping the previously unbeaten Brutal Deluxe:

  • Bald Eagle 2,088 pulled off a big upset over swanton 2,068 to make it three on end and safely in the Top 8 for the time being. Without bench cover, swanton was hit late by the withdrawal of Barlow.
  • Lunatic Fringe 1,989 got a badly needed 4 points by beating Impromptu 1,841 to again sneak into the Top 8 on percentage.
  • Some more huge scores from Montagna and Gibbs saw Stevies Wonders 2,283 advance to 6 and 1 against bottom team Nasty Nige 1,943.
  • After some big scores, the good form deserted Horj's Hero's 1,770 who gave up a soft win to Team Goober 1,997 who improved to 4 and 3.
  • Quality Stingrays7 1,767 scored even worse than last week against a very grateful Gutwrenching Bulls 1,823 - a win with the third worst score for the round.
  • In the game of the week, Barnzy's Guns 2,063 handed Brutal Deluxe 2,056 their first defeat by a measly 7 points. You would think that someone who calls themselves Captain Fantasy would know to lock in Ablett as captain and play their best performing players and comfortably win with a score of 2,102. Something seemed to go seriously astray at the selection table here - please explain Captain.
  • Mugs Away 2,049 made it three on end and up to 5th by just beating the cursed Spreadsheet Elite 2,033, who were probably not too thrilled with the effort from captain Bartel against Melbourne.
  • A Bunch Of Hacks 1,929 improved after last weeks stinker to unexpectedly beat footyfix 1,855, who is losing touch with the Top 8.
A week after cracking the top 100, we slipped out again down 7 spots to 103rd. Our weekly average score also dropped 4 points to 2011.

In the overall scoring, Stevies Wonders were the big movers, up to 2nd spot and cutting seriously into swanton's lead. swanton stayed in exactly the same position (326th) with Stevie moving up over 2000 spots to 1283rd with the competition's 84th best score for the week:

The league games this week includes a battle for bottom spot:

Bald Eagle (4-3) vs Quality Stingrays7 (3-4)

Lunatic Fringe (3-4) vs Barnzy's Guns (6-1)

Stevies Wonders (6-1) vs Mugs Away (4-3)

Horj's Hero's (2-5) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (3-4)

Team Goober (4-3) vs footyfix (2-5)

Nasty Nige (1-6) vs Spreadsheet Elite (1-6)

Impromptu (3-4) vs Brutal Deluxe (6-1)

swanton (5-2) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (3-4)

Versed swanton last week in the Sydney Swans DT league... I'm eager to get revenge and off to a good, solid start with Goddard Captain and Gilbert and Fisher both being solid.

I thought I was no chance going in against Barnzy, but Montagna got me off to a great start and it looks like it will be close. Need Ablett to have a quiet last quarter.
