Can't see him winning from there...

It was a high scoring week on the DT rollercoaster this week. While high scores to Goddard and Montagna were easy to see coming against the Tiges, the three highest scores came from unlikely players - Travis Johnstone (I had him a few years ago and his papers are stamped "NEVER AGAIN"), Beau Water and Jude Bolton. That trifecta would have paid pretty well.

Another thing we didn't see coming was the big score by the Gutwrenching Bulls who improved by a whopping 422 points to record the leagues highest score this week. The drug testers should be there any minute, swans4eva.

In league games, there were some big upsets:

  • Bald Eagle 2,203 made it four on end to thrash Quality Stingrays7 1,983.
  • It looked like a mismatch on paper, but Lunatic Fringe 2,198 somehow did enough to just get over Barnzy's Guns 2,157. The Guns were not helped when karma caught up with David Hille, or his hamstring to be exact, and left him on 10 points.
  • Stevies Wonders 2,166 was going for a hattrick of high scores, came back to earth a little but did enough to just squeak by Mugs Away 2,151.
  • Horj's Hero's 1,982 were beaten fairly easily by A Bunch Of Hacks 2,098 who made it two on end.
  • Team Goober 2,005 were beaten convincingly by another of the improvers this week footyfix 2,159. It was a badly needed win for footyfix who managed to stay in touch with the Top 8.
  • In the bottom of the table clash, Nasty Nige 2,174 posted a very respectable score against the hapless Spreadsheet Elite 2,067 to hand over the bottom spot for now.
  • Impromptu 2,044 made it three in a row (losses that is) and are in freefall after losing to Brutal Deluxe 2,140.
  • And finally, swanton 2,089 had a poor week by their standards and got ambushed by Gutwrenching Bulls 2,245 who snuck into the Top 8 with their surprise win.
It is becoming hard to predict how we will go with our league rankings. Despite the high scores and a 9 point improvement in our weekly average to 2020, we slipped 11 spote down to 114th.

In the overall scoring, swanton stayed in the league but slipped 320 spots to 646th overall.

The league games this week are bookended by a couple of big matches:

Bald Eagle (5-3) vs Barnzy's Guns (6-2)

Lunatic Fringe (4-4) vs Quality Stingrays7 (3-5)

Stevies Wonders (7-1) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (4-4)

Horj's Hero's (2-6) vs Mugs Away (4-4)

Team Goober (4-4) vs Spreadsheet Elite (1-7)

Nasty Nige (2-6) vs footyfix (3-5)

Impromptu (3-5) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (4-4)

swanton (5-3) vs Brutal Deluxe (7-1)

Horj's Hero's 1,982 were beaten fairly easily by A Bunch Of Hacks 2,098 who made it two on end.

I wouldn't say easily. I was behind most of the weekend up until the last quarter of the final game!!!

But I am in a bit of trouble with Sandilands and Hille in the ruck with both of my reserves not playing at the moment. I can't see the big guy getting rubbed out for his hit, but by the sounds of it Hille won't play so I will cop a zero unless my rookies suddenly get picked.:(

Eight trades left and five players in my starting 22 that will hopefully be upgraded. Looks like some won't be going by my lack of trades avaliable, hopefully Hall and Rockliff continue there hot streak and I may get away with it to an extent.

bugga almost pulled off an upset. maybe i shouldn't of held my trades.
Yeah you were unlucky mate, thought you were going to catch me at the death but big last quarters from Boyd and Lake got me over the line. Also got away with a terrible mistake picking Tippett over Rocky, the twice I've benched Tippett he's scored in the 80's

hahaha :thumbsu:

After a slowish start, I think my team can steam roll home! I'd like to also take the time to thank Lunatic Fringe for his devotion to making the weekly reports enjoyable to read and his organisation... thankyou, it makes the game that much more fun!

Well done to Barnzy on his win!

Bit of a could have been week for me I nearly changed my Capt to Swan from Montagna (big mistake that one) and should have played Martin over Gysberts.

But I didn't

Bit of a could have been week for me I nearly changed my Capt to Swan from Montagna (big mistake that one)

But I didn't

I'm an idiot, I was supposed to do this as well but got so caught up in trading out Maguire that I forget all about it, would have scored over 2450:eek:

man i miss 1 weekend and i get 2 donuts in the forward line. damn u brown and didak! gonna have to pull some trades to shore up cover for the end of season. Most likely moles or howlett to pav or chapman and switch with duncan.

As has been noted already, the scoring went higher again this week - no one did worse than 2,050, there were three scores over 2300 and a few went begging with donuts or poor captain choices.

The disastrous Captain choice this week was Leigh Montagna, who was scoring badly and added injury to insult when David Mundy's knee smashed into the back of his noggin in the last few minutes of the match. A few of us fell for that one.

In league games, the results seemed to go much more to form than last week:

  • A big score but the winning run of Bald Eagle 2,241 was ended by Barnzy's Guns 2,339 who even copped a donut after Brown and Didak both withdrew.
  • Lunatic Fringe 2,266 made it three in a row against Quality Stingrays7 2,159. The Stingrays were derailed by Webberley being left out by Richmond and then losing Didak.
  • Stevies Wonders 2,376 had another big week and is sitting on top of the ladder after thrashing A Bunch Of Hacks 2,125.
  • Horj's Hero's 2,134 snuck home against Mugs Away 2,068. Both teams scored zeroes with Didak coming out but it was the donut that the Mugs took for Jonathon Brown that was decisive and leaves that team precariously placed in 8th spot.
  • Team Goober 2,201 posted a good score but it was Spreadsheet Elite 2,256 who recorded their second win, got off the bottom of the ladder and remain a mathematical chance of making the finals.
  • The highest losing score honours went to Nasty Nige 2,255 who reclaimed bottom spot after getting pipped by footyfix 2,263.
  • Impromptu 2,053 had the low score for the week losing to Gutwrenching Bulls 2,140 who made it three in a row and into the Top 8. Impromptu decided to take some zeroes until Hille returns and avoided the win this week.
  • And finally, swanton 2,405 tore it up against Brutal Deluxe 2,240 who has lost two out of three and has slipped to second spot.
With the big scores our weekly average shot up 17 points and we moved up 13 spots to be ranked 101st. Hopefully we can creep into the top 100 next week and stay there for more than one week.

In the overall scoring, swanton recovered the ground lost last week and is back up to 340th. Stevies Wonders also moved into the top 1000 with its big score.

League games this week:

Bald Eagle (5-4) vs Mugs Away (4-5)

Lunatic Fringe (5-4) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (4-5)

Stevies Wonders (8-1) vs Quality Stingrays7 (3-6)

Horj's Hero's (3-6) vs Barnzy's Guns (7-2)

Team Goober (4-5) vs Brutal Deluxe (7-2)

Nasty Nige (2-7) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (5-4)

Impromptu (3-6) vs footyfix (4-5)

swanton (6-3) vs Spreadsheet Elite (2-7)

Our match looks pretty close Dood.

I made a huge mistake last week when I was messing around with so called partial lockout loophole. I cleared my emergencies, but forgot to go back and put Es on Farmer and Gumby. And in the end I just went with Hodge as captain!

Not the week for Chappy's hamstrings to play up. Luckily for me, Jaensch has emerged from the wilderness (he and Bernie Vince seem inseparable) and has been named at HBF, not even on the extended bench. So, unless Adelaide is playing with me, I can still avoid a zero without trading and maybe win.

Our match looks pretty close Dood.

And it is. A thrilling two quarters left to see if I can run over the top of you. But Jaensch is playing a blinder and is keeping the buffer up.:(

114 point lead to Lunatic who has Jaensch, while I have Frawley, Green, and Tippett. Tippett may be the key as Melbourne look pathetic and can't handle the big guys down forward. Green has done f**k all so would need to lift as well.

The split round passed as slowly as two wet weeks for me, particularly after I chose Luke Hodge as captain in the first Friday night game. Then I had to wait until the last quarter of the last game to be beaten.

Scoring wise, there was plenty of trouble to be had for those teams with players like Podsiadly, Silvagni and Goodes underperforming, Chapman and Sylvia unexpectedly not playing in the second week and with Kreuzer going down on 5 points. It has not been a good few weeks for second string ruckmen in DT.

Around the league, the squeeze is on for the last three or four spots in the eight with seven teams outside the eight by either one or two games:

  • Bald Eagle 2,170 made it five from six and are sitting comfortably in fifth position after beating Mugs Away 2,032, whose three losses in a row see them tumble out of the eight.
  • Lunatic Fringe 2,121 lost the close one to A Bunch Of Hacks 2,133 who made it three from four to sneak into eighth spot.
  • Stevies Wonders 2,142 has not lost for some time and easily accounted for Quality Stingrays7 1,990 who have not won for some time.
  • Horj's Hero's 1,997 needed the win but could not match Barnzy's Guns 2,049, who is sitting pretty in third spot.
  • In another close one, Team Goober 2,056 lost their third game straight, narrowly beaten by second placed Brutal Deluxe 2,083.
  • After two very strong scores,Nasty Nige 2,190 topped the league and is still alive (with the faintest pulse) after scoring the win over the previously in-form Gutwrenching Bulls 1,942. The Bulls struck disaster in the second week with donuts for both Chapman and Sylvia but would probably have lost anyway.
  • The big improver this week was Impromptu 2,181 who, after four consecutive losses, sprang to life without any warning to thrash the equally erratic footyfix 1,843, a 420 point drop on last week's score.
  • An ordinary week by their standards but swanton 2, 024 did enough to beat Spreadsheet Elite 1,949. The Elite had a shot at the win, but took a zero when Chapman was left out of the team.
As a league, our weekly average went up by only one point to 2,038 but we rose six spots to 95th best league - a more convincing entry into the Top 100 than the first time.

In the overall scoring, swanton were hurt by Kreuzer going down on 5 points and slipped back to 499th spot overall. Stevies Wonders are closing fast and are now less than 100 points behind.

With the first 4 or 5 spots looking fairly settled, the interest is in the final few spots and the backmarkers need to string some wins together:

Bald Eagle (6-4) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (5-5)

Lunatic Fringe (5-5) vs Mugs Away (4-6)

Stevies Wonders (9-1) vs Barnzy's Guns (8-2)

Horj's Hero's (3-7) vs Quality Stingrays7 (3-7)

Team Goober (4-6) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (5-5)

Nasty Nige (3-7) vs Brutal Deluxe (8-2)

Impromptu (4-6) vs Spreadsheet Elite (2-8)

swanton (7-3) vs footyfix (4-6)

Everyone had him so everyone loses a trade, but for those of us who have only kept 3 or 4 trades in reserve (or even less) it was particularly bad news when Michael Barlow went down late in the game on Saturday.

At least Barlow was considerate enough to do it after scoring 111 points (though some felt he could have fed out the handball). That meant his 11th consecutive price rise and that you can do a straight swap for all but a few elite midfielders. Amazingly, the biggest DT bargain ever was only in just over half of all teams - obviously, the top half.

The scoring went gangbusters this week - our league average was 2,278 and if you didnt score 2300 or more, then you lost ground on the competition:

  • Bald Eagle 2,281 booked their spot in the finals with an easy win over this weeks tailender A Bunch Of Hacks 2,092 who was in the eight for a whole week.
  • Lunatic Fringe 2,221 desperately need a win after losing an eight pointer to Mugs Away 2,324. It was a must win for the Mugs who replaced the Hacks at the bottom of the eight.
  • Stevies Wonders 2,491 were apparently not too worried by Stevie J's suspension as they gave Barnzy's Guns 2,319 no chance by pulling out a mammoth score (28th overall for the week). The Guns look a good thing to take out the seasons highest losing score and are now at risk of falling out of the top 4.
  • Horj's Hero's 2,241 kept the dream alive but snuffed it out finally for Quality Stingrays7 2,093 who have now sunk to the bottom of the ladder.
  • Team Goober 2,246 made it four losses on end and their finals chances are on life support after losing to Gutwrenching Bulls 2,333. The Bulls bounced back to form after a lapse last week and look safely in the finals.
  • The finals hopes of Nasty Nige 2,175 ended with their loss to Brutal Deluxe 2,297.
  • Impromptu 2,301 would surely have taken that score before the weekend but it was not enough against Spreadsheet Elite 2,353 who sprang off the bottom with that win.
  • swanton 2,381 had the second highest score for the round to beat footyfix 2,303, whose scores seem to go up and down like a yo-yo.
Our league average went up a whopping 17 points with the big scores to 2,055 and we jumped 18 spots into 77th posi. Well done everyone.

With their huge score, Stevies Wonders snuck past swanton in the overall scoring and hold a 12 point lead. The Wonders moved up 340 spots to 379th. After a slow start to the year they look certain to hit the top 100 by seasons end.

Games this week:

Bald Eagle (7-4) vs footyfix (4-7)

Lunatic Fringe (5-6) vs Spreadsheet Elite (3-8)

Stevies Wonders (10-1) vs Brutal Deluxe (9-2)

Horj's Hero's (4-7) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (6-5)

Team Goober (4-7) vs Quality Stingrays7 (3-8)

Nasty Nige (3-8) vs Barnzy's Guns (8-3)

Impromptu (4-7) vs Mugs Away (5-6)

swanton (8-3) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (5-6)

The big news this week was the late withdrawal of Brendon Goddard, which was a disaster for one of our league. Also, Adam Goodes emerged from the wilderness to top score for the week - disproving the theory that DT scores are inversely proportional to the size of a players shorts.

It was another good week for us as a league, our weekly average went up six points to 2,061 and we moved up 10 spots to be the 67th ranked league. Top 50 beckons.

The three coaches silly enough not to have Goddard all won this week:

  • Bald Eagle 2,180 have top 4 in their sights and easily accounted for footyfix 1,979,
  • The stars aligned for the Goddard-less Lunatic Fringe 2,321 who posted the top score in their smashing of Spreadsheet Elite 1,937. The Elite suffered a disaster when their captain (Goddard) and vice captain (Corey) were both late withdrawals - meaning a zero for the captain bonus. Dane Swan was heard to mutter something about chopped liver.
  • Another big week for Stevies Wonders 2,291 who beat Brutal Deluxe 2,103 in a top of the table clash.
  • In an upset, Horj's Hero's 2,225 again stayed alive with a narrow win over Gutwrenching Bulls 2,209. The Goddard withdrawal was decisive in this match, leaving the Bulls vulnerable in 7th spot and playing Stevies Wonders this week.
  • The other team without him, Quality Stingrays7 2,274 posted a huge score and got off the bottom against Team Goober 2,042, who look sunk after their fifth straight loss.
  • Nasty Nige 2,053 could not keep up their good form and are back on the bottom of the ladder after losing to Barnzy's Guns 2,090. The Guns took a zero rather than trading out Barlow. Either they were supremely confident or they have run out of trades. Barnzy, say it aint so.
  • Eighth position has been hard to hang on to and changed again this week when Impromptu 2,157 made an Adam Goodes inspired comeback to just beat Mugs Away 2,145.
  • The last match went to script as swanton 2,170 beat A Bunch Of Hacks 1,944.
In individual scoring, Stevies Wonders had another score in the top 1000 for the week and moved up another 140 spots to 240th.

Games this week:

Bald Eagle (8-4) vs Spreadsheet Elite (3-9)

Lunatic Fringe (6-6) vs footyfix 4-8)

Stevies Wonders (11-1) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (6-6)

Horj's Hero's (5-7) vs Brutal Deluxe (9-3)

Team Goober (4-8) vs Barnzy's Guns (9-3)

Nasty Nige (3-9) vs Quality Stingrays7 (4-8)

Impromptu (5-7) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (5-7)

swanton (9-3) vs Mugs Away (5-7)

a lot of under performers her is prolly gonna cost me a spot in the top 8. hoping this week will be better.

Well I'm back. Literally. I've been travelling for the last 5 weeks and had very very limited use of a computer so mostly used it for business. I was very sorry to have missed the Barlow trade the first week, ouch, especially since I had the cash to make a straight swap to Montagna who would have given me 142 points instead of a donut and now it cost me 2 trades although I'm left with some lovely cash. Sorry my negligence affected our league stats but I will try tomake up for it with due diligence from now on. Play on.

Teams relying too heavily on Geelong and St Kilda players suffered this week with both teams losing to lesser clubs. The losses showed in their stats, particularly with Geelong. On a more positive note, things are going swimmingly at Essendon (as far as I am concerned). Keep up the good work, Matthew.

As Jezzza noted, we moved up another 13 spots to be the 54th ranked league. In a relatively tough week for scoring we had a good contribution from everyone as we all scored over 2,000. Great stuff.

The top 5 teams are set and the rest of us continue to battle it out for the last three spots:

  • Bald Eagle 2,229 continued their excellent form to beat Spreadsheet Elite 2,116 and will be in the Top 4 if they can beat Brutal Deluxe next week.
  • footyfix 2,239 returned home just in time to make some trades and easily beat Lunatic Fringe 2,024, who continue to struggle with the not-too-hard concept of making their best player captain each week.
  • Gutwrenching Bulls 2,181 had a huge win over Stevies Wonders 2,141 to strengthen their position in sixth spot.
  • In yet another upset Horj's Hero's 2,161 beat Brutal Deluxe 2,090 who are now at risk of tumbling out of the Top 4. It was three must-wins on end for Horj who are now out of the Top 8 on percentage.
  • Team Goober 2,086 are out of the finals race after losing to Barnzy's Guns 2,127. The Guns managed the win even with a donut for Michael Barlow.
  • Quality Stingrays7 2,172 made it two on end by beating Nasty Nige 2,008 and are still in with a mathematical chance (I think)
  • I think I wrote 'em off a few weeks ago, but the resurgent Impromptu 2,245 had the highest score this round and made it three from four by beating A Bunch Of Hacks 2,125.
  • Finally, swanton 2,140 dealt another blow to the Top 8 hopes of Mugs Away 2,022.
In individual scoring, Stevies Wonders could not match the blazing form of the past few weeks. They remain in the lead, about 130 points clear of swanton, in 249th spot.

Some even match-ups this week, so expect some shuffling of positions:

Bald Eagle (9-4) vs Brutal Deluxe (9-4)

Lunatic Fringe (6-7) vs Gutwrenching Bulls (7-6)

Stevies Wonders (11-2) vs footyfix (5-8)

Horj's Hero's (6-7) vs Spreadsheet Elite (3-10)

Team Goober (4-9) vs Mugs Away (5-8)

Nasty Nige (3-10) vs A Bunch Of Hacks (5-8)

Impromptu (6-7) vs Quality Stingrays7 (5-8)

swanton (10-3) vs Barnzy's Guns (10-3)
