So John Joseph has been getting around for the last few years masquerading as the Cro-Mags, playing live shows but never making any new music. In the meantime this comes out of left-field, and damn is it good! Just goes to show who the creative one in the band was.

Amazing atmospheric metal

Those on bandcamp please support this guy, been banging their albums non stop for month, takes you to a place, you may or may not have been before

A must for fans of Agalloch and Nest, the drum is just spectacular.

High on Fire were ridiculous last night. So goddamn heavy and relentless. Kinda regretting not wearing earplugs though. I also have the worst bangover this morning to go with my ringing ears

They were amazing last night, too. There were some technical issues with Matt's amp, so The Black Plot needed to be restarted, which kind of took the wind out of the sails of the start of the gig. On the other hand, having no guitar for the first couple of minutes showed how juicy Jeff's bass sound is; for a three piece, their sound is so thick. The same issue reoccurred at the end of Death is this Communion.

Besides the amp problems, the band were fantastic. No sign of the hunger wavering, and Luminiferous is an outstanding album. May they long continue in this vein.

The Sword are next, but I'm not enjoying High Country the way I am High on Fire's newest. Hoping they play more of their earlier stuff (love warp riders).

When you look at where their material has come from and the way it's evolving it's pretty impressive. I think their songwriting on Luminiferous is outstanding.

The Sword last night was pretty good. They're a professional unit. Unfortunately the sound at Fowlers Live is almost always rubbish. The bass was so loud that it was drowning out some of the guitar harmonies and more intricate parts.
Luckily they're a good enough band that it didn't ruin the experience too much for me.
I'm digging High Country, but the songs that won the crowd over the most were the early ones. Freya and Tres Brujas in particular were awesome.

Not sure if anyone on here is aware of Gaki No Tsukai (it is a comedy show out of Osaka which is pretty funny), but here is something to watch for a laugh if you enjoy Japanese humour.

...and non related to the thread but funny (imagine this on air down here!).
