I agree that the landscape has changed but I can't stand their sense of entitlement. They think that because they left good paying jobs to pursue their band (a hobby for most people) then everyone else has to chip in the difference. I should quit my job to play video games full time and ask everyone to crowd fund me.
Geeeee whiz

They aren't forcing anyone to contribute. They're being upfront and honest about it.

Quit your job and play video games? Give me a break. They make a product many people enjoy consuming but isn't economically viable with the current model. It's fine they've attempted to compensate for that.

Power to them and any other mid level band whose music is their main source of income. It's not exactly Metallica asking for crowdfunding.

Go ask Keith, Rob, Coz and stuff what they had to with Destroyer, Vomi, Gospel etc. They moved their product overseas so their $20k upfront overhead went further. They didn't sit on Internet forums for 10 years asking everyone to cup their balls, carrying on like absolute tools in guitar building groups and what not. Sick and tired of one of them on FB that whenever me
a mate are talking about video games he has to chime in with "I wish I had more time to play but I'm in a successful band ;) ;) ;)." Stuff em. Disowned by Australian metal and their pimply hipster fans can prop them up all they want.

Credit to them for having the guts to drop careers for the band, I've nearly been there several times and couldn't go through with it. Those who I know that tried themselves always did it off their own work and never put their hands out. For some it paid off, others it didn't. If you're good enough it will work, simple as that.

Perth metal band's response the the NeO fiasco.

I like it, it's not a direct shot at them, nor any barbs fired.. Just a fresh honest take on how it is to be in a relatively successful and actively touring band and the perks/pitfalls that are par for the course.

Contrary to the 'old days' it's easier to make a buck off music sales now as with the internet, things like Bandcamp and whatever else there is, there is less need for a label since you can distribute and sell your own stuff and own all of the profit. It's probably why labels like Nuclear Blast have gone scattergun and are signing and releasing just about anyone otherwise their days are numbered.

That's enough about that mob anyway.

It is in that respect. However, it's also just as easy for that same Joe Shmo to dig up a torrent as well, which pretty much every band that's released and sold say, 50-100 copies can be guaranteed - there's a torrent floating around (likely in Russia!) of their album.:(

Been on a real sludge trip lately. This band in paticular:

The internet killed heavy metal. Paypal instead of sending money to random foreign locations and all pc- c**ts get all info they were never supposed to get. Just want to die noadays..

I prefer Paypal. Used to hate going into town, buying foreign currency and then off to the post office. Can browse a store and pay immediately. The big downside which probably hit circa 2001 was the impact on record hunting (globalised pricing and impact on physical stores). I probably stopped buying vinyl around then anyway (got sick of shitty pressings which seemed to be using cd masters and postage as a uni student was a killer). Pity as early to mid 90s we had a killer metal store here which carried on the dm/bm releases. Agree it makes a lot of things available to people who otherwise would not know, but so be it. Just need to read the FMP/NWN forums over the years to see how many clowns there are in metal.

Listening to new Destroyer 666 and man there's a big early Destruction vibe on that first song Traitor and the title track (little bit of Coroner in there too).

Quite enjoyable album.

Knox JB has a few copies....

****. Was there Saturday and CBF going to the JB.

It's nowhere near where I live but I thought why not venture out? Not long on Eastlink and had the day to myself....

Really enjoying the album although possibly a little short by a couple of songs tbh.

I'm closing to Doncaster/Eastland, but prefer going to Knox - more places to eat, parking easier and obviously the JB actually has a metal buyer still.

Yep. Grew up East Doncaster and Lwr Templestowe so it's good to be back. Not here for too long though. Probably move again this year - actively looking in Park Orchards.

Good luck with that. Not easy finding stock in PO and it is competitive, sure you know that though.
