Ok so how is it???
Very much worth bingeing.
One of the introduced characters on the main character's side is a little annoying, but it's the only weakness so far. This group of players for the games has a lot of room for conflict to keep it interesting.
Might blow some coin on Jan tours today. Reckon a couple likely to sell out.
Going through some end of year lists for traditional heavy metal (no death/black etc). Seems said genre is pretty strong right now.
Any standouts?
Saxon - HFD atm, probably new Priest later as well
For me it's been Judas Priest, Vulture, Aardvark Crypt Sermon, Satan, Angel Sword and Helvetets Port. There are a few I am yet to get (Demon Bitch and Butcher) and a couple that I haven't paid enough attention to (Saxon and Attic). Probably forgotten a few. On the threshold of traditional metal but not are Deceased, Hellbutcher and Sabbat.
Happy to read lists though to see what I've missed etc but can't remember the last time I tried to do an annual one. Post before is just some traditional albums I've enjoyed and not in any order of ranking. Wouldn't even try with death metal.Man, im struggling to put together a top 10 list. Lots of decent releases, not too many standouts. Might end up being a very eclectic list from many sub genres.
Currently listening to In Vain - Solemn
Part of me doesnt want to bother but its always good to look back on the year that was so ill probably make one mainly for future reference. Trying to compare across subgenres is really tough though and like i said, there werent too many stand outs for me. Doesnt really matter how long i spend on it but like i said - it will probably be worth it to come back to at some time in the future & see how my tastes have changed/albums i missed etc.Happy to read lists though to see what I've missed etc but can't remember the last time I tried to do an annual one. Rolling Stone had the nerve to make a metal list this year, putting Kerry King's album at the top, probably some snot nosed intern wrote it. The nerve of them, after spending decades panning just about every classic metal album upon release, even referring to Slayer as "genuinely offensive satanic drivel" back when they were actually in their halcyon years. RS can f**k right off, the staff deserve a savage beating & should be barred from talking about metal until they become insolvent.
Don't even give the tourists the time of day. That said I agree about the beating and the barring of such campaigners from even talking about metal.
Only stumbled across it when I was reading up online about King the other night, had no idea they even did one. Been fuming about it all week.
