Just got my ticket to Testament, can't wait. Saw them at a Soundwave years ago, was really good but their own show will be way better of course. I'll be setting myself up on Skolnick's side of the stage, such a great guitar player.

What are everyone's thoughts on Mastodon as a live act? I really like the albums but I don't think they quite deliver them that well live, I'm not sure what it is. Anyway I have seen them a few times and will give their sideshow a miss (at this stage anyway, might do a last minute thing)

I saw Testament at Soundwave too but it was only half as good as the stand alone show i saw in Sydney in 2007. They opened with Over the Wall and then Into the Pit - absolute insanity. Probably top 3 gigs of all time.

Mastodon are a weird one. Saw them support Slayer in probably 2007 again and wondered what all the fuss was about. Sounded like a wall of mud to me. I think they've always struggled with their vocal capabilities. On the newer stuff with Brann doing the singing, I think they sound better but most people seem to prefer the older stuff.
