A lot better than Tatum did against the same team. Lol

Luka could actually be better (scarily) if he stopped being somewhat of a slob and laid off all the burgers and beers he enjoys and looked after his body better (much like Lebron does)

Bill Simmons put a theory a while back (last year) that a reason why Luka didn't get as many MVP votes as he should is fellow journalists and sports writers have an real problem with how Luka is not as professional with his strength and weight training and other fitness levels like Lebron.

Not saying I agree with that logic, but if he doesn't win MVP this season, i bet that will be brought up again.

And yes I now have Luka ahead of Tatum in current MVP rankings. Jokic well and truly in the box seat for a historic 3 peat though.

Remember a couple of years ago Jokic said he liked playing at his (then) weight as it was harder for opponents to move him around. Made some sense the way he played and he was so effective. But it was rubbish of course. Couple years ago he comes out a lot fitter and of course gets better.

Hard to see how dropping a few kegs isn’t going to make you better. And more durable in the long run.

How much weight did he lose?

Fairly recently Morris called him a sloppy fat boy.

His bulk makes him hard to shift now days too

Is Luka not in shape? Like he isn't ripped but he is playing huge minutes and carrying a history usage rate, how is he managing that if he isn't in shape?

This is where i think once you have a reputation it is hard to shake in the NBA

He is constantly called a liablity on defence, it is not true. He is improved on that end.

He is constantly called out of shape, yet i don't see any fitness issues this year. He came in to last season carrying some extra weight, i don't think he did this year.

Luka uses his size and strength, he is a nightmare match up. Who can match up with a 6'7/6'8 guard that can stay with him and also match his strength? Not many in the NBA

Not sure he has shown any indications that he is 'unfit'. People may not like how he looks but his fitness is fine.

Lebron has treated his body like a temple ever since he was in high school, and I dare say that is a significant reason why he has been playing at an extraordinary high level for 20 odd seasons in the NBA now.

If Luka wants to be known as an all time great top 10, if not top 5 player (which he currently is based on his current production) he needs to cut out those unhealthy dietary and drinking (aka beer) habits if he wants to have a lengthy career in the NBA.

But as Simmons also said in another podcast, Luka is also hit of different cat to Lebron (doesn't give a shit about what the media or journalists say about him, which is somewhat refreshing)

Wouldn't surprise me ifLuka finishes the last five or so years of his pro career in Europe somewhere btw

He's already tracking better than lebron.

I think his lifestyle is fine.

50/60 point games recently seem to indicate the same.

Why would he go to europe when he's going to get 50-60m a season contracts in the nba. He wants to play at the highest standard, seems obvious?

Pretty sure I read in an Ringer NBA podcast (not with Simmons) he has turned up to the last pre season training sessions at the Mavs a bit out of shape (he does enjoy partying in the off season)

He does look a bit fitter and healthier this season I agree, but just reporting from what have I heard from half way legit sources on spotify/podcasts.

Larry Bird could have played for another 3 or 4 seasons if he didn't enjoy a brewski or grilled food so much imo

Lebron is the role model for anyone/star who wants a long and successful career in the NBA
.

He basically went straight from the WCF in to playing the Euro basket or whatever it is called straight in to NBA pre season he had next to no off season. Hell of a workload he is putting himself through.

I won't argue at all that Lebron is the gold standard for professional athletes preparation. But we also need to remember Lebron has like 1 in 1 million genetics.

Pretty sure Luka is going to have a long successful time in the nba regardless of cheeseburgers and beer.

The only question is does he follow the lebron hardest road path or go the the dirk/Giannis route.

The kd is 23 ffs

In the AFL you had Hodge- got some advice from then assistant coach Simpson to lose a kilo a year after he hit 30. Was noticeably leaner at the end of his career, and played on far longer than I thought he was going to when he was in his late 20s. It HAS to help.
