I would love to join but obviously don't meet the criteria I will wait patiently in the corner. (I am a supercoach tragic though just ask my wife)

You should be privileged to be offered it. I asked for one of the spare spots in T1 a couple of years ago when I won T2 and was overlooked for others. Must have been in uncle Jiska 's bad books that year.

We were 9th overall last year in T2. Was an unreal season from that group

In 2018?

That means I've been in a top 10 league for the last two years (Pies Division 1 finished 8th in 2019).

More likely there was no spot. T1 pretty much holds it's members year after year after year. It's unusual for a spot to open up.
