100% agree

as an Essendon supporter,r the over reliance on Jake Stringer to work magic to win games was akin to Harry Kane doing the same for Spurs.

Being forced to work different avenues to goal is better for Spurs long term.
Even James Maddison last year, he was the whole reason almost spurs started well and as soon as he got injured it fell apart. Now he's not even a guaranteed starter

competition for spots in that midfield is good. Bergval waiting in the wings too. Mikey Moore could be an option. Kulu in arguably career best form

Moore is gonna have to be an option if Werner Charlo and Odobert are all out. Don't think he's ready for the pressing needs though. Need a backup for Johnson but the profile he plays is more of a wide striker than winger.

Great result. When we click we are a great side.

Injuries and lack of proper depth are going to be an issue. Not a slate on Ange because his in game changes were great today. But our sports science and training load management is a serious concern. The excuse in season one was getting guys up to speed with intense training. But this season it's a lot of repeat issues, which we know reoccurance is a leading cause for re injury.

Reoccurance - VDV, Richarlison, Son, Werner
New to club - Odobert and then he gets re injured
Overloaded with the football calendar - Romero

Nov 23 is city away.
Away to Galatasaray is a tough game but spurs with 3 wins already can afford to rest some guys and then Ipswich at home, take nothing for granted but it's a good fixture.

That leaves almost 3 weeks for Werner, Romero and VDV to hopefully recover. Richarlison I think that will be too soon

Going to be a rough line up for Gala

Forster
Porro Dragusin Davies Gray
Sarr Bentancur Maddison
Kulusevski Solanke Moore

Can't see how we go with anything other than that, only really Bissouma for Bentancur could be questionable.

Then Romero for Davies against Ipswich. Udogie for Gray. Johnson for Sarr.

I think Bissouma will play. Rest is probably about right, shame they can't rest Kulu

I think Johnson needs a rest next up. Looked cooked at the end of the game. And we can't afford to take any risks with our fit wide player
I do wonder if Maddison could take up a wider role and let Bergvall play in the middle but agree Johnson does need a rest.

Yeah I don't mind maddison wide left whipping balls in. He is an underrated dribbler too
Even wide right, probably is how often he wants to get on the ball and ange wants his wingers to be patient. But really you only need a good cross or 2 from him to make a difference.

This is the strangest Tottenham side I've seen, especially when it comes to the way that fans/media speak about us.

  • Apparently we are vulnerable at set pieces - yet we've only conceded 2 goals from them this season.
  • People say we don't create enough quality chances - we're the top scorers in the prem.
  • Our defence is way too open and concedes too many goals - we've conceded the same amount of goals as Arsenal who are meant to be the greatest defence of all time.

Ange is cooking, but he still has some work to do on the mentality of the squad/club. We need to make the gap between our best/worst a lot smaller and find a way to grind out results when things aren't going our way. If we can stop having demoralising losses and turn around our away form we'll really start to get going.

Perceptions have carried over from last season. Then that goal conceded on the weekend is ripe for confirmation bias.

Personally I think Ange has played a lot more pragmatic this year. Dialled down the pressing and tempo as a whole. That has made it harder to score as many "ange ball" goals on the break with the cut backs as the opposition have time to set up their defensive line.

Being the highest scorers in the premiership at the moment would come down to putting the skis on when the going has been good, there has been a number of games where they haven't turned the possession dominance into actual chances.

I disagree here I think the pressing is the same as last year but more cohesive which means more turnovers and less break chances ( led by having Solanke) and I think Tottenham are playing much quicker from back to front and creating chances which means Tottenham aren't rolling the ball around the front 3rd with 8 players forward until a turnover.

I'd love it if ange was a stubborn bastard and said okay go for it mate, but you're coming to Turkey to play 90 and starting against Ipswich too
Ange is big on letting players play for their country, but I'd reckon he'd be pretty filthy if he missed spurs games to be available for Argentina so we'll see.
