Same as Aussie rules mate, players barely go for hangers anymore, never torp the ball and barely ever kick for goal from the boundary anymore because analytics guys tell you it's low percentage.

You know how bored I get watching Melbourne half the time? We literally launch to the pocket with 3 shit as key forwards all flying for it to try and get a stoppage, so we can press up and keep it in our half and set up defensively. It's ****ing boring.

Honestly I think it's why I'm so so desperate for Ange to succeed, I *ing love that he still cares about entertainment and enjoyment and playing for the love of the game. Like good on Arsenal for being a good team but * me dead who would want to watch them play? Corners and crosses from outside the box and then defend 90% of the game.
Watching Arsenal roll around after a finger nail brush was what got me completely off side. Insufferable campagainers

I agree, re Ange and entertainment

"mate, are you not entertained?" just sticks in my mind lol

Becomes insufferable and worse than SEN the morning after a finals loss by Carlon and it's supporters
Hook that shit in my veins. Cocky bunch crashing back to earth.

I cant keep up but your in Australia (watch TalkSport via YouTube I assume?)

I listen sporadically, if im in the mood. Some of the podcast shorts (like Cara and Neville's with Wrighty and the lady whom I cant remember her name) offers good insight as well.

I cant bring myself to listen to Poms whinge for a whole episode or show though. Becomes insufferable and worse than SEN the morning after a finals loss by Carlon and it's supporters
I'm in Canada but Aussie, prems on at a great time for me to watch now.
I listen to talkSPORT with O'Hara and Cundy, guys ring in and whinge and they take the piss out of them. Piss funny to me. Every fan base wants their manager sacked and every fan asks why their manager doesn't have a plan B. Great value.

I will never understand what you have against Davies. Spent years wanting him sold when virtually the rest of the fanbase loves him.

As for Dragusin, his manager is raving about him. He's been solid alongside Gray.

If you want 4 solid centre half options fine. Let's get another one. No need to get two. We have three solid options. Pure waste of time and energy.
You would think that Vuskovic would be the 4th CB option next year

He does look a prospect. This would be assuming his year in Belgium earns him enough work credits to get a UK work visa next year. His season in Poland didn't do this.

Also probably means the links overnight with Skriniar are likely BS too.

The problem for Vusko is that since Brexit under 18 players can't be registered or get a permit to join their English club. He can be allocated an ESC Slot in the Squad (we can do this 4 times) for a player who doesn't get a work permit.

It's just an age thing blocking him joining up with us at this stage.

Don't be fooled by the clips of his goals too much, he isn't coming in and being close to the VDV/Romero level. He admits it himself, he needs to get faster to play in England

UK Talksport makes AFL supporters look like great analysts.

They take nuff to a whole new level.

I can barely listen to a Spurs UK based podcast because they're often not nuff, but the Sky style "proper football men" stupidity that you hear in match coverage. We are lucky the international feed during games isn't Sky or TNT, apparently its as bad as BT doing an AFL game on 7.

🗣️ Carlo Ancelotti on Paolo Maldini: "Every time there was a victory we hugged each other. Sometimes I used to go to him, and sometimes he ran to me. The beautiful thing about Paolo was that he always said thank you. After every success as a true leader, when returning to the locker room, he had two rites.

The first was to remove the band and put it on top of his cabinet. The second was to thank everyone, by shaking their hands. Never seen one like this, with his charisma. On the day of his last match in Florence, at the moment of leaving he hugged me for the last time. At that moment I realized my Milan was gone. What great men are composed of. Paul was the Leader of that team. If a player made a mistake, or didn't behave that way, he would flash him with a look. The embarrassing thing was that even the players from other teams in front of Paolo lowered their guard. I don’t remember anyone saying anything to him. She didn't need to speak... There were champions like Seedorf, Nesta and Sheva who were melting like snow in the sun before the captain's glance.

If someone was late for the training, they knew that before me, they had to meet Paolo. There were young people who immediately gave up the grip, while he trained more than anyone even at 39 years old. I remember one day you asked him: "Paolo, how do you do it?" “He replied: “I do it to show all those who come after that you should never let your guard down, even at 40.” I always drag the group because I am the captain and I have to be the first to lead by example". That Milan was winning because it had great players, but most of all it had a soul. That soul was named Paolo Maldini... "

Carlo on Paolo Maldini 🐐

Why is this here? This is what it takes to be a winner. What was the last name that you can think of that fits the bill at this club. I initially thought Ledley, but I think not even he qualifies. Which means we're looking at 30+ years at least. The year we missed out on Roy Keane (spurs fan) because he wanted to stay loyal to Clough for the treatment he was given at Forest is the signing we sorely lack.

The club is working hard on signings but struggling to get them done

Meanwhile Man City not paying crazy prices are about to land 3 players. The fees they are paying are only slightly more than we paid for Dragusin and Odobert for the Lens defender and Marmoush.

Marmoush is 70m? Khusanov and Reis are $63m combined. When would Tottenham ever spend $133m in January lol

Maybe they did go for Khusanov and maybe he decided city's better.

City are spending money they didn't spend in summer

They made a 120m profit in summer on transfer alone, it's not 1:1 in any sense

I thought they were both around the 30-50m mark

I swear you don't get why clubs bigger than us get things done.

City have an endless pit of money, can pay almost anything in wages - as evidenced by 500k p/w to Haaland for the next 10 years (£260m) - and they have the prestige of being able to win trophies.

This matters to players and their agents.

January also is harder as clubs are less willing to part with players. City aside who else has signed someone? Villa. Gunners can't get attackers in either and they're still in a title race and are also bigger and richer than us.

Spend the extra 10-20m in the summer and get Marmoush instead of ANOTHER kid

To dare, is too dear

We are the most profitable football club in the world yet some defend our lack of spend

Marmoush is 47m and odobert was 28m

19m extra for a January buy for a fairly proven Bundesliga talent
Negotiations between the clubs have stepped up since then, with Eintracht demanding around £67.5m (€80m) to part with their prized asset.

Got this from 4 different sources.
It's significantly more than 47m

It's little wonder I've argued with you for years now. The stick to beat the club with should be used on things they deserve it for. Not a free for all. And that erroneous attitude now permeates onto others in this little group and it isn't really fair.

Last week someone stated we don't back managers, when since the stadium we back them more than most clubs - to the tune of 3/4 of a billion €. The lack of spending or it's too dear is now inaccurate pish.

Now a lack of January signings - like nearly every club - sees us unfairly compared to a club that blatantly cheats the system.

I'm sure come the close of the window arsenal will address their needs and we won't. We've seen this play out so many times before

This summer the panic loans to solve needs saw them get Sterling who isn't great but is HG, Chelsea get Sancho who is decent and we get Timo non HG useless Werner

What's with the obsession with Marmoush?

Having the money available to spend - like I'm sure we would have - and that player wanting to come here could be two separate issues.

Any indication that those 3 City just signed were interested in us and we've fumbled the ball in signing them?

It's like getting upset we didn't recruit Mbappe. Sure we'd love to have him like every other club would but the feeling isn't mutual from his side.

Fair enough. Frankfurt have bled out an extra 20m. But if he plays 100 games for city will anyone care?

I'm not saying we should get Marmoush once City are in for him. I'm saying in the first 18 days of the January window in the middle of an injury crisis we had to have signed a versatile defender and attacker in the 15-40m ranges. Something that we've found too hard whilst trying hard. But wasn't too hard for these less profitable clubs

Aston Villa
Atletico Madrid
Ipswich Town
Brighton
Juventus
AS Monaco
Wolves
Rennes
Como

Little bit of a re write here, Sancho is a loan to buy and Sterling has been as useless as Werner has. Werners played way more than Sterling actually

I get that but that were after muani it seems like, probably pivoted to the next option now. Or maybe it's all bullshit and levy never planned to help out with any money at all and it was all a smokescreen to make it appear like he was willing to spend
