In his starts since December I think he was poor against Fulham and Bournemouth then got rightly dropped for Chelsea, and when he finally came off the bench that game he was good again.

Then he was pretty good against Rangers, great against Southampton, good again against United and Liverpool (even though we got smashed) and then he didn't start any of our next 3 where we took 1 point from Wolves. Was back for Tamworth. Benched for Arsenal and came on and looked good.

Just a weird selection sequence for a player in okay-to-good form whilst those around him are all over the place. Especially for a VC

I've said that he is saying all of the right things. And when he is on the pitch he is 1 of few doing the right things too.

Just trying to work out why Ange is picking duds like Sarr over him
If I had to guess, it would be his trying to protect the back 4 with Sarr/biss Bentancur. Maddison isn't great going back.
Whether that's worked or not I can't say but Maddison has been super complimentary of Ange and has even taken responsibility himself for not being at his best.

I don't think it's some big Maddison hate though

Carried away =/= finding positives.

Half the reason I go you is there's no balance to the critique of the club. If it is fair to point out where we're failing then it should be reasonable to highlight aspects that are working, or players doing well.

Forster is a prime example. The balanced ones in here have lamented his bad moments and lauded his games where he's been very good. You're silent on one and relentless on the other.

I cannot remember the last post you've made that has a generally positive tone to it, on any aspect of the football club, and that's just a bit sad.

I think thats a fair assessment. And would be justifiable to drop him for if we had players who did have the mettle about them.

But Bissouma and Sarr both don't. Bentancur, Bergvall and Kulu all do, but Bentancur's had time out and Kulu has been forced onto the RW again. Until we have better midfielders Maddison needs to be starting every game he is fit to play
Bergval was starting over him. was that load management or something else is all im saying.

I keep thinking back to what our best XI team needs and it is an absolute world class number 6.

Imagine having Kimihc, Rodri, Pahlina in the 6 instead of Bissouma? We'd be seeing so much more from that front half of the pitch imho

I keep thinking it is the example thing maybe ?

The obvious answer to me is that Sarr tracks back better. Ange is attempting to protect a band aid defence.

This certainly takes away some cutting edge, but with a solidified defence things would potentially be different.

just seen the highlights, iPorro's shooting this bad?

so many wasted chances
Porro just panicked. Had time to place it either side of the keeper with either foot but he rushed it. Maddisons first touch for the goal was incredible. Didn't give it enough credit at the time

Precisely why I've found calls from a large section of our fanbase, through many mediums crying out for a striker or wide forward this month to be bizarre.

Firstly City have spent close to £70m on Marmoush who has the Frankfurt 1 season wonder elixir, meanwhile Chelsea are being quoted north of £70m to get Garnacho. So why bother this month. Massive waste of cash when we have 10 attackers for 4 positions.

But since December we've dropped points in 10 games, conceding 23 in the process. Meaning scoring twice isn't even guaranteeing us a point over the last two months. CDM or defender is what is needed this month.

I swear when he joined he was far more lethal.
That first miss was shocking given the quality of pass from Son.

But that doesn't quite add up. He starts 3 games in a row Southampton (dog shit and he dominated), United (our level and he was decent), Liverpool (well superior to us and was one of few good players). But then gets dropped for 3 in a row against sides that are a mixed bag in Forest, Wolves (as bad as us) & Newcastle. Back for 5th tier opposition and dropped again for Arsenal.

Speaking of knocks and injuries our front 3 is a mess for quite some time with the Solanke 6 week news. That means it's:

Solanke 6 weeks
Johnson 3-4 weeks
Werner 6-8 weeks
Odobert 8+ weeks

So it's Son, Kulucevksi out of position, Richarlison & Moore for the next 8-9 games. With only Johnson to come back in the next 3 after that. That's a lot of football for Richarlison to cope with. And also for a 31 year old and 17 year old.

Will Lankshear I thought was going on loan. Scarlett's been recalled and likely to be going out too.

Surely an attacker joins?

I think now is the time to take a punt on a 15-25m winger from the championship. Spurs ain't spending 40m + and I don't think another foreigner who needs time to bed in is it. I'm not sure if this person exists but the might be the move.

Palace signed Romain Esse earlier this month for that sort of fee. Skov Olsen was signed a week or so ago too by Wolfsburg. Apparently its not impossible?

To be honest our backline needs just as much work. And Roma just signed a great Mr. Fixit type in Devyne Rencsch

Surely we have a recall clause for Solomon and using that instead of most likely wasting 15m on someone
