Lol that was the funny one in that thread

Tactics Tim being told off for picking Kane over Soldado because it was devaluing his 29m asset
Yeah I remember he scored a couple of goals playing with Adebayor when he first got a run in the PL

We've seen it first hand in the afl with some of the list rebuilds that cut too deep. Carlton, Melbourne, GC all talent rich kids but in poor environments
With the shit we're currently in, players like Hojbjerg who dig in every week would've been handy to still have around

Lo Celso, NDombele, Emerson, Sanchez, Dier, Reguillon, Hojberg, Sessengnon, Gil, Veliz, Moura, Doherty

That right there is the list of reasons why Tottenham are screwed. If anyone can be bothered before me id like to see the values paid vs sold for those players ( Reguillon is worth 0)

Dier and Moura you could say spurs got good value out of them but they both left for nothing and needed to be replaced.

Gil 25 (12.5 reported sale)
Emerson 25 (15)
Lo Celso 48 (5)
Reguillon 30 (0)
Doherty 17 (0)
Hojberg 17 (17)
NDombele 62 (0)
Sessengnon 27 (0)
Moura 29 (0)
Sanchez 42 (10)

322 spent
59.5 recouped

262 million net loss on players, so Tottenham had to spend that much just to have the same size squad as before they even started.

Id say the spending in the last 2 years has actually improved a lot minus Johnson and Dragusin but even those 2 id imagine will still maintain a decent amount of their value.

Saw a stat that Son is in the bottom 20% of the league for his position this season. XG and conversion has fallen off a cliff, he should be coming off the bench and playing sparingly at this stage not leading the line. They're gonna extend him, let him run himself into the ground then release him on a free after next season and lose another player for 0

Lo Celso was 32m on transfer markt with a 12m loan paid for him the season before as well

But yeah that's some of the worst transfer business I've ever seen. Apart from Hojberg and maybe Sanchez for depth it's a big list of who cares they're gone either lol

yep, hilarious when that £600,000 asset turned into £100,000,000

wonder if Tim got a pat on the back
Tim is an idiot wrapped in a fool, generally speaking.

my other favourite jd2010 was that Juande Ramos wanted Samuel Eto (Barcelona) and David Villa (Juventus) but ended up with Roman Pavylchenko (Spartak Moscow) and a previous transfer window acquired Darren Bent.

that just is the ENIC way. We wanted Coutinho at one point, no where near it (was this correct?), Grealish definitely one.

Its embarrassing how this club is run
The bit I don't quite understand is the general assumption that has crept in that we have a god-given right to have won trophies or get Player X in any transfer window just because we want them.

Every club wants the best players in the world. It doesn't mean the club has a right to them, or that if we do not obtain them then the club has failed.

Pav was coming off a huge Euro's. Bent was the next big english thing and was our record club signing at 16m. At the time, good solid buys.

Samuel Eto was mid-late 20s and scoring for fun, and was sold for 40-50m.... It's ENICs fault that we didn't almost triple our record transfer? To say it's Levy/ENICs fault is a bit of a stretch.... We were never going to spend twice as much on one player compared to our combined outlay on Bent and Pav. Eto was well out of our league - simples.

Ramos was evidently dreaming.

It’s just the common theme and an easy way out for me to cope with how pathetic ENIC’s actual football acumen is

Helder Postiga was also coming off a good euros once upon a time.

Bent and Pav i didn't mind either of them. But they are quite a few rungs below Berbatov and Keane

THFC is not a football club, it's a money printer. This is the reason why I'm done supporting them.
having learnt so much more about the history of ENIC's control. I think im with you here mate.

Would love to enjoy the path of a europa league or even an FA cup but that'd just validate how pathetic that bald bastard runs his business

18 months ago having Hojberg, Perisic etc coming off the bench to support the younger guys was great.

I get your point but the "we should have got Eto but got Pav and Bent instead" just doesn't stack up. Apples vs oranges etc.

A better example is one of the many times we've heard we're just a few million short and dilly dally around and end up losing the player (or weeks of bedding them in during pre-season).

I loved Super Pav.
If anyone can find the full / original TalkSport clip of this, please post it. I'm sure there's a little bit edited out:

I cried with laughter the first time I heard this, and I reckon I've listened about 100 times over the years. Still makes me chuckle.

Roman Pavlyuchenko, you know, he's gonna score three in a row

It's him, that man again....
