We've seen it first hand in the afl with some of the list rebuilds that cut too deep. Carlton, Melbourne, GC all talent rich kids but in poor environments

Yeah I remember he scored a couple of goals playing with Adebayor when he first got a run in the PLLol that was the funny one in that thread
Tactics Tim being told off for picking Kane over Soldado because it was devaluing his 29m asset
With the shit we're currently in, players like Hojbjerg who dig in every week would've been handy to still have aroundWe've seen it first hand in the afl with some of the list rebuilds that cut too deep. Carlton, Melbourne, GC all talent rich kids but in poor environments
isn't this why Davies is still here? With the shit we're currently in, players like Hojbjerg who dig in every week would've been handy to still have around
YepAren't spurs lowest in the Premier League as well
couldn't help myself but here is a very, very simple research ive foundLo Celso, NDombele, Emerson, Sanchez, Dier, Reguillon, Hojberg, Sessengnon, Gil, Veliz, Moura, Doherty
That right there is the list of reasons why Tottenham are screwed. If anyone can be bothered before me id like to see the values paid vs sold for those players ( Reguillon is worth 0)
Dier and Moura you could say spurs got good value out of them but they both left for nothing and needed to be replaced.

The bit I don't quite understand is the general assumption that has crept in that we have a god-given right to have won trophies or get Player X in any transfer window just because we want them.my other favourite jd2010 was that Juande Ramos wanted Samuel Eto (Barcelona) and David Villa (Juventus) but ended up with Roman Pavylchenko (Spartak Moscow) and a previous transfer window acquired Darren Bent.
that just is the ENIC way. We wanted Coutinho at one point, no where near it (was this correct?), Grealish definitely one.
Its embarrassing how this club is run

Every club wants the best players in the world. It doesn't mean the club has a right to them, or that if we do not obtain them then the club has failed.
Pav was coming off a huge Euro's. Bent was the next big english thing and was our record club signing at 16m. At the time, good solid buys.
Samuel Eto was mid-late 20s and scoring for fun, and was sold for 40-50m.... It's ENICs fault that we didn't almost triple our record transfer? To say it's Levy/ENICs fault is a bit of a stretch.... We were never going to spend twice as much on one player compared to our combined outlay on Bent and Pav. Eto was well out of our league - simples.
Ramos was evidently dreaming.
Helder Postiga was also coming off a good euros once upon a time. The bit I don't quite understand is the general assumption that has crept in that we have a god-given right to have won trophies or get Player X in any transfer window just because we want them.

There was a likeable oaf about him and he loved a belterI loved Super Pav.
THFC and the golden goose for enic
THFC our club is just a marketing arm for those enic bastardsTHFC is not a football club, it's a money printer. This is the reason why I'm done supporting them.
having learnt so much more about the history of ENIC's control. I think im with you here mate.THFC is not a football club, it's a money printer. This is the reason why I'm done supporting them.
18 months ago having Hojberg, Perisic etc coming off the bench to support the younger guys was great. With the shit we're currently in, players like Hojbjerg who dig in every week would've been handy to still have around
I get your point but the "we should have got Eto but got Pav and Bent instead" just doesn't stack up. Apples vs oranges etc. It’s just the common theme and an easy way out for me to cope with how pathetic ENIC’s actual football acumen is
If anyone can find the full / original TalkSport clip of this, please post it. I'm sure there's a little bit edited out:I loved Super Pav.
