Still no signings with a week ago. Seen more and more frustration appearing on twitter with Levy
I felt the same way towards him in 2015

We needed a striker, he didn't deliver on Berahino who could be a gun in Poch's system under Poch's development, yet he did on a spud in Sissoko who cost more.

Anyways, I expect nothing, if Barkley or someone comes in then that's a bonus, but I'm not going to bother melting about it, said exact same thing last year, if I melt, it's when we play poorly/inconsistently/don't rotate well because we won't have the depth.

West Brom and that stubborn arrogant **** Peace completely ****** him up

Who knows if he can be improved now, but 2 years ago a move to us would've been great.
Can't fault us on that one, we made fair offers. He may have worked for us but Peace was a campaigner so we'll never know.

Yeah I know, but Levy lowballed the asking price the whole time too.

Both chairman at fault, Levy during the transfer period for not matching the 25m asking price, Peace in hindsight for not accepting due to how Pulis marginalised him (Pulis wanted him out at the time) and how his form dipped subsequently.

Injury to Trippier. Crutches and moonboot.
KWP came on and had Douglas Costa in his pocket. Defended very well.
Eriksen is the beating heart of this team. So good.

Sissoko played an hour and was best on in that time. Seriously good, his pace on the bigger Wembley pitch may be useful, plays with this attitude and I'm more than happy for him to stay.
Feeling far more comfortable about us at Wembley now, we look to be adapting and as Clive Allen mentioned a couple of times we're training at Hotspur Way on the same size pitch with the same grass type. We should adapt quickly.

2-0 win over Juve is nice. Need to note though that this was the sloppiest I've seen them in ages, Very un-juve like performance.

Poch has said KWP won't play next week. Dier at RB hopefully Wanyama is fit. Dembele and Winks in CM not ideal for an away trip
Thought it was a weird comment from Pochettino unless something was lost in translation. We sold our formerly first choice RB for 50m then rotated Trippier and KWP at RB through the pre-season without buying another RB. If he's not ready then why haven't we replaced Walker and why was he given so much time against good sides, where he largely played well and pushed his case forward, throughout pre-season. I'd be seriously disappointed and frustrated if I was KWP listening to those comments.

I think Poch has tried to play a bit of russian roulette with the RB position. Think he thinks KWP will be ready to be a back-up RB but I don't think he is comfortable going to his back-up on day one because he will grow into the role.

Not a bad way of handling it as we do have Dier who can fill in there if it's short term. Ease KWP into the side through the Carabao Cup and maybe an easier game like Swansea would be ok to blood him in

I thought it was very strange also. Like if he thought he was ready weeks ago and then preseason performances convinced him otherwise then fair enough but he just mopped the floor with Douglas Costa so that can't be true.
If he thought he wasn't ready and preseason still hasn't swayed him then why no RB Poch. To sell your starting RB weeks ago and now having to seemingly either go makeshift or with KWP who hasn't played a senior minute yet is baffling, there's no excuses that stack up.

He's either ready and you back him for Newcastle this weekend or he's not and you've ****ed up in the market by not having a squad option by matchday 1.
It's one or the other. I'm leaning towards it being the latter. Like seriously it's matchday 1 and we're discussing Dier at RB. That's rotational shit you deal with whilst juggling European football and suspensions. Not first day of the season.

The problem is Poch may see KWP being ready from GW8 onwards once he has played an easy game or two and in the league cup. It's bad luck in a way, but if Poch thinks we've got a ready replacement from GW8-38 in KWP what do we do with the 3rd RB?

I guess we could use KWP as a mr. fix it and be the LB and RW cover when he is ready in a couple of months

It's all guesswork. If he's not ready for the entirety of the season then I cannot excuse starting the season without senior backup.

It is one or the other. He's either ready or we've ****ed up.
No get of jail clauses.

It's not black and white with young players though. He can be not ready day one but ready later in the season. The real question is does Poch think he'll be ready before January. If no then we simply should have signed someone once walker left. If yes then he's taken the risk that Trippier would be fit until he was ready to blood him. That's back fired but we do have options in the short term. Either Dier at RB or Sissoko at RWB. I'd actually prefer the latter. He'd love to have a good game against his old mob

Apparently Son has progressed to featuring in full contact training this week. Hopefully available to at least be on the bench for the weekend.

When is Rose and Lamela expected back?

Seems forever waiting on them

Lamela will be a decent downgrade option in PL Dreamteam ;)

Poch said that would be likely last week. Joy of a broken arm is he can still maintain his cardio base so it shouldn't be long until he is in. Problem is 3421 and getting him into it

No idea how true it is, but the last thing I read suggested that Rose won't be back until the start of September and Lamela was still effectively indefinite.

Without Trippier I doubt we'll play with a back 3. In pre-season we've also played much better with the 4-2-3-1 than the 3-4-3 anyway.

Apparently Wanyama and GKN haven't started full training either. If that's the case I think the most likely line up is:

Lloris
Dier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Davies
Dembele - Winks
Son/Sissoko - Dele - Eriksen
Kane

Vorm - KWP - Wimmer - Oakley-Boothe - Son/Sissoko - Georgiou - Janssen

What position does Georgiou play?

Seen him on the ball in highlights packages from preseason, but haven't exactly watched him live in game yet.

Man, looking at that predicted team is depressing. I'd expect it in a EL/Cup game, not on day one of the season.

A traditional winger but can also fill in at left back. He's all left foot, the right only used for balance. he wa decent, without being a standout prospect in the friendlies. He put in a few nice crosses and was willing to run at defenders.

The starting 11 is good, other than Dier at RB (which, honestly, I don't actually mind. He's shown before that he has an excellent cross on him) and Winks instead of Wanyama (which is stylistically different, but not a massive downgrade on quality) it's pretty much what carried us through most of last year.

The bench is seriously weak though. I mean, if we're chasing the game who do we bring on? Janssen, Son/Sissoko and Georgiou/Oakley-Boothe? It doesn't inspire confidence.

You would also think that Edwards will be included more often this season after signing a new contract, but given he hasn't done a pre-season with us and he wasn't involved in any of the friendlies, I doubt he'll be considered for a position on the bench this week.

Lloris
Dier Toby JV
Sissoko Dembele Winks Davies
Alli Eriksen
Kane

Not a bad side when you consider the following aren't fit

Son
Trippier
Wanyama
Lamela
Rose
