He had one of his quieter games and hasn’t been his best lately. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about though because it’s not like he’s been stinking the place out either. Hopefully he’ll kick on after the international break. Nearly scored a great individual goal yesterday

Thats what makes me want us to keep him in. Is capable of the brilliant

Just having him out there causes the opposition problems because they know what he can be capable of. His slight loss of form is temporary. We are all still waiting for him to score another worldie like the one at Palace a couple of seasons ago though :D

Some of his flicks and touches were amazing against Huddesfield it was more his general passing that let him down. And then trying to con the ref with the pen and some other decisions. He hasn't been bad this season just a lot of 6/10 games when he is capable of being as good as Kane when he is on

I wouldn't mind if they dropped him deeper at times. Change things up and get him around the play a bit more.

I thought this too against West Ham, but he started floating out wide, particularly on the right and it freed him up a bit, ended up setting a few goals up

Kane must be desperate to get back playing with his Spurs mates rather than the shower of shit that were feeding him yesterday. Southgate picking Ox in his current form says it all. Sterling was shit as well and don’t get me started on that crab Henderson. Wouldn’t know a forward pass if it came up and gave him a blow job. We need Dier as back up (talking Spurs) but in all honesty we should have flogged him to United for £50m. He’s just not quite up to the level required for me

I have no problems with Dier

Been asked to play several roles due to injuries in the squad

He's our jack of all trades midfielder/defender, similar to how Son is our jack of all trades forward
I kind of agree, we’d be struggling right now with both Dembele and Wanyama out for example. His stock has slipped from 2015/16 - he hasn’t gone forwards like our other players have. Very happy for him to be our back-up though but £50m would have been good business

Considering he played CB/RB for most of last season I think he's going best he can

Might need another month or so in a DM role for him to really stamp his authority though

Agree Dier is useful for club. Don't think he's good enough for CM though.
As for England; Dier and Henderson both should be nowhere near selection but given the lack of options they are. It will be exposed in the world cup and lead to another underwhelming exit. Next in line is Wilshere or Delph. Says it all really doesn't it.

Henderson & Dier certainly won’t be putting the wind up the likes of Germany. We need to be a countering attacking team because pace is probably the only possible way we can get at the top teams. We will fail miserably if we try a possession based game in the latter stages (if we actually get that far)

Germany's attacking mids and defence are their strengths normally, not really in CM

England need balance in their midfield. They pick players who have similar limitations (eg can't pass).

If they are playing 2 CMs one needs to be defensive (Dier) the other a passer & everywhere man. That second role they don't have many options for. It's Barkley, Winks & Wilshere really.

If they are playing 3 CMs it needs to be one defensive (Dier), one passer/attacker (Lallana) & one everywhere man (Henderson, Winks, Barkley).

They do have options but Southgate just doesn't use them well together. You simply can't play 3 non passing CMs together like he did the other night.

In fairness injuries ain’t helping. I don’t trust Southgate to make the best of a limited situation though

I don't trust him to pick the right mix if they were all fit. English coaches and pundits (and one eyed Liverpool fans) have this warped view on Henderson that he is a top class CM!

Problem we’ve got is a suspect CB pairing and full backs (Rose & Walker) who will be advanced up the field much of the time. You need those two CM’s for protection. I don’t rate Henderson but who else we got if you are playing two protective CM’s? The attacking will come from the FB’s plus Alli, Rashfird, Sterling and Kane. If only one of Dier or Henderson could pass the ball we’d be alright!
