No strapping Kane.

He looks good. Whether he plays round one I’m not sure, may depend on injuries.

I think we’d want him in there but he needs to prove himself as spots are tight in that line.
Thanks.

Reckon Pedlar would be a good sub option (just not every week!l

bigman id assume not all of group a finish before the 1st to finish in group b and so on through the groups?

Ie the leaders on group c may actually be being the tail of B or even A making the tiers less defined than done may be interpreting (eg concern why Peatling in C)

Or do they tend to have the groups pretty accurately tired.

(This is assuming I’ve interpreted right that all groups started at same time just at different parts of the oval rather than staggered starts)

Group A: Jones, Keays, Berry, Thilthorpe, Dawson, Rankine, Neal-Bullen, Dowling, Smith, Sholl, Bond, O’Brien

Not sure what to make of this? Any indication that they're pushing him towards a bigger ruck role? I hope not.
Just surprising to see him in the elite endurance bracket with the size he'd added last season.

Could it be in the Nick Riewoldt mold? If I remember correctly (likely not), everyone was so gassed playing against him as he had such elite endurance, and had to rotate mutliple players on him each game.

I just take it we have an elite player on our hands. Looking forward to round 1.
Thilthorpe and Rachele to take us forward.
Best young duo we've had since Danger and Tex.

2012 top talent
Dangerfield, Walker, Talia, Smith, B.Crouch, Tippett, Lynch

2025 top talent
Rankine, Thilthorpe, Rachele, Curtin, Draper, Pedlar, Michalanney

Taken a while but being shit looks to have paid off.

Rucking takes it out of you, so if we want him to be at his best as a key forward, he's going to have to be ruck fit because he's always going to be giving the primary ruck a breather. He's a naturally big body anyway, so I don't think there's any trade off with him becoming an aerobic beast.

Thilthorpe has been an endurance beast right back to his junior days, as a 16 and 17 year old he blitzed the West Adelaide A graders in the preseason run both years.

Thilthorpe has always been an elite endurance runner. Just like ROB, who is in that group too. Has nothing to do with ruck plans or non-plans.

I think the benefit of a fit Pedlar is he is the type of player that can actually be super dangerous on the Graveyard HFF position. As well as provide a burst stoppage player. That's a very valuable combo of traits.

We shouldn't forget he kicked 25 goals from 21 games 1 season ago. He definitely knows where the big sticks are!

His ability to make something of the graveyard HFF spot will be all the more significant if Rankine is spending so much time out of our forward line.

The talents there but really needs to work on his composure with ball in hand.

I dare say at times they'll want him to push up the field more as a marking option. We are big fans of playing wide and using the boundary as a safety valve to reset. Thilly a much better option than ROB in that regard, both in his marking ability and then ability to use the ball.

I'd be way more comfortable with Thilly trying to open up the field with an inboard kick from that position, whereas ROB basically has down the line or hope for a quick handpass as his options.,

Agree with you but I am struggling to find a spot for him in the team just now. Neal-Bullen, Rach, Izak, Keays are all forward half locks initially. All these guys can rotate through the midfield if needed with Izak certain to do that quite a bit.

Then there's Curtin and Dowling who will also be looking for the mid/forward positions too. Lastly, even though everyone here has put a line through him, Nicks might still harbour some Murphy love 😬.

Pedlar has a point of difference and I'm hopeful he matures into a reliable burst player like a de Goey. Certainly, if he gets a game, it will be happy days for us because if it happens, he's managed to move past some handy and established players. He'll have truly earned his spot.

I see him similar to Milera as being a team bonus if they make it back.

For me, his best chance is if Tex goes down and due to our KPF stocks looking thin, we decide to go smaller up forward. And this is where I agree with you. A bustling small forward like Luke might work well. Pedlar, Rankine and Rachelle will stretch the defence of quite a few teams.

Nah, Thilthorpe has typically been freakish on the endurance side.

Yeah the logjam is real, its been playing on my mind a bit, for both flanks.

I have a feeling this year a lot of bubble players will either go to another level or accept their SANFL level potential, Cough Cough... Brayden Cook.

Fingers crossed it pushes players like Luke to make themselves undroppable before round 1. Cause with Peatling, ANB, Cumming, Curtin, and Draper all likely to establish themselves this year, that 22 is going to be a hell of a lot tighter in 2025 then it was in 2024.

I think there will be a few disappointed posters if Cook doesn't make it.

Seemed a real natural

His set shot kicking was pretty disappointing before the injury. May have been down to fitness. I hope he improves. If he can get some consistency there, then we would have a weapon.
