Let's face it ROB is nearing his end and we should have had attended to our ruck stocks long before this. Both ROB and Strachan are turning 30 this year and the cupboard is bare behind them, so much so that we've "recruited" a delisted 4th/5th rated Sydney back up ruck Lachlan McAndrew even though we currently don't have a list spot unless a player is put on the inactive players list. So does McAndrew play SANFL for Adelaide or Norwood in the interim or until we free up a list spot?

Any way it's spun it's really poor list management to be in this predicament if ROB gets an injury.

Good to see

Interesting that there's lots of direct interaction with players from him. So he's not just an "oversee the coaches" type but heavily involved at the coalface.

Shades of Dean Bailey about him? A footyhead who's been in the industry a long time.
Oooh, imagine if he really helps us and Brisbane is found out to be doing something wrong

They could be delisted tomorrow and this board will find a new whipping boy within seconds. That will never change even if we went back to back.
I’ll take a back to back premiership whipping boy any day

Yep … and Brodie Smith is a waste of a list spot given our options in that position and Brodie’s 2024 form ( been a v good player until then )

So if we win back to back with a team full of good players and no stupid selections, why would there be whipping boys?

And don’t come back with some silliness like that’s what this board does. Name the good players who have been whipping boys.

Let's be realistic here. His fitness was never questioned prior to 2024, when it was shown to be diabolical.

Something happened between his last AFL game in 2022, and the games he played in 2024, which resulted in his fitness falling away dramatically. The question is what - and can it be fixed?

The answer to "can it be fixed" is probably "not in 2025", given that he's missing the entire pre-season due to injury. Given that his contract expires at the end of the year, there's no time left to fix the problem before he's delisted at the end of the year.
HE HAD A GROIN INJURY

Yeah that bad on the 6th June when subbed off after getting pantsed by Nankervis he fronted up the next week against Sydney/Grundy at Adelaide Oval while earlier that day at the same location ROB was being tag teamed by Jarrad Redden and Connor Ballenden but still managed 21 disposal 35 hit outs and 5 clearances.
Nicks said clearly in the media conference that he has a groin injury and was subbed out in the third quarter.

He shouldn't have played the next week, but we were stubborn because the media backlash towards dropping ROB at all.

And was utterly destroyed the week after as well

Yeh, Grundy had an absolute day out, 8 kicks, 23 handballs and 49 hitouts. The funny thing is that despite Strachan being as terrible as he is, he's played a total of 7 games and started AFL training standards 4 years after ROB and the end result is the only thing ROB does better is win hitouts. Which is important for a ruck, but also known to be one of the most overrated stats there is.

HE HAD A GROIN INJURY
Oh come on he was perfectly OK for 3/4 quarters and was getting worked over by Nankervis so they had very little to lose by bringing on the sub to offer more run.

And if the injury was at all restrictive no way he then fronts up against Sydney/Grundy 9 days later with ROB fronting up earlier that day against WWT at the same venue, just another case of questionable selection when historically ROB has usually been OK against Grundy.
