You honestly think if Strachan wasn't good to go against Sydney Nicks would have played him with ROB perfectly fine to play? I don't. That would be like Nicks cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Nicks has his faults but I don't think he's downright stupid.
After dropping ROB and being told they were wrong to do it by Kane and the Adelaide media?

No, Nicks is always incredibly quick to say "I was wrong, let's make the change back."

Literally every bit of the coverage of the game talks about his groin injury!!

Take your blinkers off, FFS.

Or keep believing that he suddenly became unfit for a fortnight, but not previously. Whatever rocks your boat.
He played the next week, if youre silly enough to believe we would risk him against Brodie Grundy after ROB dominated the 2s then you're not as bright as I thought.

And relevant to him being selected for the Sydney game 9 days later with a perfectly fit ROB on the sidelines?

Stop making excuses for Strachan's 2024 sub par AFL performances
Stop having such an obsessive hate boner for the very last guy on the list.

It's absolutely ridiculous that you'd rather believe he suddenly became unfit, rather than consider he could have been carrying an injury - considering he'd be subbed out due to injury the week before!

This is just you having blinkers on about this particular player.

He's a minimum wage backup, and we should look for a different option. We can all acknowledge that without thinking it's a club crisis that he's there.

Geez Kristof grasping at straws now....

Let's be real. This club has constantly played players that are carrying niggling injuries. And Nicks has often needed to see that he was wrong for a few weeks before he'd make a change.

I'm sure they believed Strachan would be good to go. And he obviously wasn't.

I don't really think you believe he just suddenly became unfit?

Where have I commented on his character unlike another poster with selected players...

I'm strictly commenting on Strachan's 2 2024 AFL games that were abysmal.

That groin strain so serious he was running laps 4 days later the Monday and trained the Wednesday and Friday prior to the Sydney game, the way you're talking you'd think he was one step away from having his leg amputated.

I don't think it was a stuff up, in fact I'd have been all for it if we had a capable replacement.

He's not playing an injured fringe player over ROB.
He trained. He wasn't injured. Strachan played a full game in Week 2.

The problem was he wasn't good enough. Nicks realised that but stuck with his decision stubbornly for one more week because he's an idiot. That way way he could say ROB earned his way back in with SANFL performances, rather than it being a selection screw up.

They could be delisted tomorrow and this board will find a new whipping boy within seconds. That will never change even if we went back to back.
See that's where you're wrong. You make it sound like there's a whipping boy quota we've got to meet each year regardless, when in actual fact, it's much simpler than that - in any given year, we've just got some players who are on our list who shouldn't be and/or are routinely making the starting 22 that shouldn't be.

If we had 44 Max Michallaney's running around on the list, none of them would be singled out as designated whipping boy - you've still got to earn that title.

How about when the side loses a string of games, and Max doesn’t play up to his normal standard? 🤔😉

That would be my thinking too, especially a coach so desperate for a win as Nicks was.

Strange nobody commented on the ROB vs Grundy game vs the Swans in round 24 at the SCG.

ROB : 11 disposals 6 kicks 5 handballs 38 hit outs 3 Marks (1CM) 3 clearances (1CC) 180 metres gained 2 turnovers DE% 54.5 Score involvements 10

Grundy 15 disposals 8 kicks 7 handballs 26 hit outs 1 Mark (1CM) 5 clearances (1CC) 132 metres gained 4 turnovers DE % 60 Score involvements 7

Sometimes I get whiplash trying to follow all the bickering on here.

It’s pretty good this season though, to see extensive debate over ROB vs Strachan when the answer is neither.

Regardless of injury or no injury Strachan really isn’t the answer to the question on upgrading Rob, and never will be.

It’s a bit like Crouch vs Berry - the answer should be Soligo

Debating levels of mediocrity is fun, but hopefully at the end of this season the floor has been raised along with the ceiling
So you're tellin' me Soligo to ruck?

Bring out the rack!

Then we’d probably lay off him like idiots.
Imagine saying someone’s not playing well when someone is not playing well.

Depends on whether or not he was trying to make a point with ROB, about ROB's own work ethic.
