Ok so it arrived today, who else is getting it? There's 700 pages of goodness in there, a lot of new stuff I expect to learn and I've never been this excited about a book before except when playboy arrived in hardcover.

Saw him spruiking it during the Celts/Bulls game. I wasn't planning on getting on it, but let us know how you find it brother.

Already with-in the first 50 pages I have learnt so much more about him and the Celtics. Basically if you're an NBA fan or a Simmons fan, its a must read, and Im only 1-14th of the way through.

Not a huge fan of his work... some of it's good, some is ok, but as a rule he kind of annoys me. He seems to be a bit of a primadonna w/r/t criticism of his work (something a few months back that I can't recall the details of b/w him and Slam mag, with him being a big wussy crybaby)

Having said that, I'll likely read it at some point, but only after I find it at my friend's 2nd hand bookstore, I won't be buying it at full tote.

Hopefully they are selling it at Melbourne airport.. though I highly doubt it. Would make a good read on a long flight.

Yeah i am waiting for mine to arrive from amazon.

I love simmons work the podcast the stuff he does on espn. i cant get enough of it. i read the red sox book he wrote and he is just really enjoyable to read lots of pop culture and such.

Do you reckon he would get many people caring who he was if he came out here?

"complex litigations this is john"
"ohhhhhhhhhhhh johnnnnnny"
"hey willy"

Doubt the book tour would extend this far. He is going to sell 98% of the copies inside the US and Canada.

you can get it from www.borders.com.au

it only takes about 8 or 9 days to arrive. better doing it through that site rather than amazon which can take weeks to arrive here.

I saved over $20 getting it from Amazon. Took less than a fortnight to come with standard shipping.

Finished it last week. Loved it. Been reading Simmons for about 6-7 years now.

Don't agree with everything he says, but he's very readable and knows his stuff. Especially love his pot shots at Hollinger, who I really can't stand.

Simmons is a deadset legend a die hard Celtics fan and I have a lot of time for him ...

Had to laugh at his blog once where he was watching game 4 of the NBA finals and his young 4 year old daughter came into the living room watching the game totally starkers as the day she was born and yelling out "Dadddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

Simmons is a cult figure, especially amongst Boston Sports fans :)

'He was a longtime fan of the Boston Bruins and the NHL, but claims that their poor management led to his completely losing interest in them until the 2008 playoffs.'
At least he fits in with the rest of the Boston band wagoners.

finished the book a few days ago. had enough interesting content to keep me entertained considering how long it is. and I also learnt a lot about some of the older players and the ABA.

but its typical Simmons. so if you're annoyed by some of his traits then that will be magnified by 100 in this book.

I thought he got some of the player rankings wrong, and i suspect a lot of it is to do with his personal tastes (and bias). There's a lot of cases where he clearly doesn't like player X because player X isn't the type of player that Bill Simmons appreciates. Thankfully Bill Walton points that out to him later in the book.

all up, if you're an NBA fan, definitely read this book.

Is currently $12US at Amazon so roughly about $25AUD to get it shipped out if anyone is interested.

Good considering it is $52 at Angus & Robertson.
