hey mate, feel free to come watch terrigal train we will be more than happy to have a new supporter.we train 6pm at the central coast adventist school ,tues and thurs.
kind regards.

Yeh come on down..... bring ya power tools and your wifes bra and undies too I know their star player Pete would love to give you some one on one mentoring for their next video clip.

On a footy note and without seeing any teams play. any one got a top 4 prediction.

It is very hard as you say without seeing the teams play,or even knowing the gains/losses of each club.
I think most would assume that Cardiff and City while prob having a few leave, always gain a few and have enough talent to remain in the top 4.

I believe the next 3 or 4 teams depends on who they retain/recruit?
Warners were next this year but is Barto leaving? Deitzy/Gordo joining?
Terrigal have said they got some back, and KV always have some imports.
Gosford have lost some/gained some so it depends on the quality of recruit.
Wyong should be stronger in 18's and 2's with prob the same guys in 1's hoping for an improved year.
The Crows are looking at a long year as they struggle to put 2 senior teams on the park!!

Depending on the draw, Nelsons and Singleton should beat/compete others true 2's teams, but will struggle if the other clubs play 1's players:D

agreed noodles...hopefully it is a good season next year with a few more competitive games throughout the whole year...

on another note it is very interesting to read about the rep U/23's that the BDAFL want to have considering as they said they dont have much money..which is probably a bit silly in suggesting it in the first place, if it does happen what players in the comp are available to play in this team????

Players that are aged 23 and under ya dopey bimbo

after reading that the BDAFL board are having their December Pow Wow I wonder if they will discuss promoting the League through the media gaining exposure, sponsors and more people walking into the ground for a look and spending money earn the Clubs/League more coin.

Clubs needing more coin could be an issue.

The BDAFL is very concerned about umpire numbers. Sydney AFL are very short on umpires. They have offered the BDAFL's top 5 senior umpires (including the 3 that did the grand final) contracts in Sydney next year. They get around $250 per game.

Love them or hate them, the BDAFL can't afford to lose its 5 (or any 5) most senior umpires. This will leave a BIG HOLE in the umpire ranks. The BDAFL will have to compete with these sort of $$$$ if they are going to keep them.

I think the top 5 from last year will battle it out with either cardiff or city to maybe drop to the bottom half of the 4 if not finish 5th.With maybe warners taking one of there places in the Grand Final with the possible inclusions of Deitz Gordo and Summers. But i still see a massive gap between the the top 5 with clubs like wyong gosford and the crows just to be there as percentage boosters for the top clubs! maybe if one of those 3 put a big show against one of those teams it may be the difference between making or missing out on the finals or a top 2 finish

Yeah i assume that if this idea gets up and running, that the better young players in the open rep team would be there ie Haines,Brassington,Jones mixed with the better and still available former 18's reps of the last few years.

How about each club rep on here name their best 5 or so under 23 players, pretty sure Ede won 18's vote by a record amount and is 23? Gordo from the Bay? Saino from the Crows and Rick White from KV
Roberts? won it last year but heard he may move on

I'm sure Cardiff have enormous talent as they won all age div, and I believe if we did compete in this age group we would prob compete at least as good as our open age team(depending on the opposition)

Gotta feel for the genuine guys at the Gosford club, this morning saw yet another w##nker spit in their face, when Kyall Walford nominated himself for the AFL draft listing his club as Balmain. The sooner the club rids itself of these types of diseases, the faster they can concentrate on rebuilding and playing entertaining footy.
He obviously didn't feel this way towards the Tigers when he thought it appropriate to take their $4000 under the table!!!! Red hot favourite for "2008 Loser of the year" award.

Hey Whisper, just before you comment gets outta hand to far with Kyall nominating for the draft and listing his club as Balmain. The way i understand the draft process is when you nominate for the draft, you remain nominated on the draft for i think its 3 years unless you are picked up by a team. This is Kyall's last year in the draft as he has turned 21. When he originally nominated for the draft he was playing for Balmain and had not played for Gosford. Your draft information remains the same as when you first submitted it so he may not have been able to change it even if he wanted too. Hope that clears it up for you.

good to see a few of the kids in the league still have a sense of humour by nominating themselves for the draft.... it sure made me chuckle

TO see people in this league nominate for the draft with NO credentials is a joke. The people that nominate for the draft have AT LEAST PLAYED in the NAB Under 18's Cup of represented their state and done it WELL. Craig Bird got drafted after two years of DOING IT WELL. The only two players I would even consider as being good enough to draft in this comp in future years are BRAEDON JONES and SAMUEL BRASSINGTON. Apparently there is a really talented youngster from Singleton who won the B AND F for the Under 16's too. ALEX MITCHELL.

I definately agree with your assessment of the depth of talent in the BDAFL. In my honest opinion I dont think there are very many that would make it to AFL level. However from watching Braedon develop this season I definately think that he could possibly make it. However need to note that Bird was an absolute gun in the senior grades at 15 and 16 also after finishing in the top few best in NSW at his first state champs still didnt get a look in the draft. Needed to move to Sydney before they took him with a 3rd or 4th round pick. I also thought that Ben Simon kid could have made it, but he has sort of dropped of the radar a bit.

I don't wanna knock the Walford kid but it does seem that nnominating for the draft was a bit of an ego thing. One would think if he were serious about giving it a real go he'd at least stay with Balmain, But I have serious doubts about their ability to nuture any great talent because their on fieold senior results have been pretty dismal in past years.

Surely if he was living on Central Coast, Pennant Hills would be an option? They've won 2 Sydney AFL premierships in past 3 seasons, have had a record number of kids get picked up by AFL clubs Scohalships this season. And its only 45mins away on the F3. But no disrespect to his abilty, I have a mate that plays with them now and I played against them a few years back and I Havent seen anything in the young Walfords abilty to make Penno's first grade regulary

Noticed Sam Brassington nominated as well as Ben Haines. As I said, from our state you have to at least represent in the NSW team AND do WELL in it.

At least these boys made the BDAFL rep squad. Walford didnt make it and still nominated! If you arent in the best 35 players in this competition I wouldnt think you would be in the best 80 young players in Australia.

Points noted J K and are fair assumptions but would you think the likes of Sandringham in Victoria which as you know are in the VFL and are a direct feeder club to the AFL side that they are affiliated with. I think but am not sure that it is now Melbourne. They keep changing them. Would be a suitable club rather than Pennant Hills to be seen in and if so now that he has signed with them for the 2009 season that he maybe credited with some ability?

Just to update you, Kyall has played rep footy. This was his first year in the BDAFL and like Bird and a few of the other talented youngs guys in BDAFL from all clubs has been at time on the Swans Top up list etc.

Walford will NOT make it in the senior side. He hardly dominated the BDAFL so I doubt strongly he would make it in the seniors of the best competition outside the AFL.
Thats a big statement to make manatwork and you are entitled to your opinion considering you and most of us had only seen the 1st year back after a 2 year absence. Will be interesting to follow the progress and see what happens but at least he is out having a go and as the saying goes will never die wondering if he could or couldnt make it. Good luck to him for taking the chance and giving it a go.

Might be a big statement but it is reality. Isnt Sandringham a feeder club for an AFL side? In that case there is 12 spots out of 22 gone every week. I believe they are also pretty successful and have a number of excellent players so theres another 10 spots gone. Thats a whole side. He might get a game in the seconds but that would be it.
I was just looking through the records of this year and the past rep players and noticed he hasnt made a rep squad. What rep side are you talking about that he made?
The only player in the BDAFL with a chance of getting drafted on what ive seen would be Braedon Jones. Nobody else would get close.

I think that ppl need to back their ability so good on the boys for having a crack!
Agree tho that you really need to play state rep etc to have a shot at afl level.
Birdy was that good at such a young age 14-15 that Cardiff protested that he was too good to play 2's finals and the Bay lost without him after I believe a wrong board decision!!

How good are the 2's powerhouses at producing talent!!!:thumbsu:
Birdy from the Bay in the afl and the closest blokes in our comp getting there all from Singleton/Muswellbrook way(Haines,Brasso,Jones) have heard the 16's bloke up that way also has some talent!

Once making it all the way is not an option, maybe the league could bring more balance to the comp by 'returning' those players to their junior club

I wouldn't think that the VFL is considered the best league outside the AFL these days...I can think of two that are probably a smidge better, at least these days. But no, Kyall Walford will not play firsts for Sandringham...He's no Scot Ducker!

Noodles I think you need to get your facts straight.
I protested on behalf of Cardiff based on the fact Bird wasn't qualified to play in the Reserve Grade finals, because he had played more First Grade games than Reserve Grade games.

It had nothing to do with him being "too good".

The facts tendered included a request from Cardiff to have an Under 18 player who had played 1 First Grade and 12 U/18's game play in the Reserve Grade Finals. The GM denied the request, stating the player was "overqualified". The GM then let Bird play, despite him playing 7 First Grade, 5 Reserve Grade and 9 U/18's games.

For what it's worth, the then General Manager had his "position reviewed" after his handling of the incident and was subsequently replaced by Gary Burkinshaw within 4 months of the season.

There aren't many as good as Scott Ducker though Barto. I was very surprised, and to be honest a little disappointed that he didn't nominate for the draft himself
