Tried charged heavy attack to one hit break his armour? From memory it only takes a one point heavy. Also don't use pluck of many if you have it equipped as I found out he can turn them against you lol.

Don't know how your build is but something I only discovered much later which would have helped me on some of these bosses is putting points into staff spin to rapidly build focus.
I've found using the Wander Wight spirit breaks it too, but can only use it once or twice (depending on how long I can stay in the fight). Will try the charged attacks, thought I had though. Don't use pluck of many as I've read he turns them against you.

All my points are in Spellbinder, Cloud Strike and PoM. Then enough points to get the third pip and a few other basics to help charge focus. Will look into the staff spin though.

I’m loving this game. Monkey Magic was one of my favourite shows growing up so great they’ve done a souls version of the story. I never knew what was going on as a kid either.

Playing on PS5 and it looks amazing and runs well so far. Up to the very fun pagoda section.

I think my favourite parts of it is not having to worry about collecting my souls on death and the levels tick over quiet quick so it rewards exploring. Invisible walls is a bit bullshit though.

Respecing is quick and easy so I have changed it up a few times when I have struggled to great affect.

Chapter 3 so insanely good. A massive step up from the extremely difficult and confusing Chapter 2.

Felt like I was able to take out most bosses in 1-2 tries and the final boss was pretty epic, took me about 15 goes.

Feels like chapter 2 and 3 were made by different developers

Yeah this thing is frustratingly inconsistent in quality and polish. The highs are very high and the lows very low.

It still looks amazing in every part. I’m liking the mix between boss / exploration / easy trash. I have been looking up guides though to sand off a bit of difficulty and frustration but I do that with souls games too.

FFS, I just beat Duskveil and now Daoist Mi has dissappeared so can't beat him. ****ing stupid game design!

On the plus side, it did give me some good shit. The needle vessel and another Kun Stone which means I can craft the Mythical Golden Loong Staff. Both will help with the 100 eye daoist.

Non spoiler warning: When you get to Purple Cloud Mountain, fight Duskveil last!

Is daoist mi the dude that tells you stuff before you go into the village or whatever it is on the way to Duskveil? Because I think I made the same mistake and just assumed whatever he wanted me to do would resolve itself.

Did you fight Scorpion King in there too? Because he can go eat a massive dick. Not a bag of dicks, but the biggest and dirtiest dick. He can eat it. And choke on it.

Yeh, that's the dude.

I actually only took about half a dozen tries to beat Scorpion Lord. I read a lot of stuff from people saying he's harder than Yellow Loong, but had a much harder time with YL. With SL, pluck of many got him halfway and I just dodged as best as I could. He is crazy aggressive though!

Dark veil took about half a dozen tries too. More annoying as I got him down to a slither most times and copped some BS one shot.

Still haven't beaten Yin Tiger.

My mate took 3 full nights to get Yellow Loong, me about a session and a half. Then like you he also got Scorpion King in about 4 goes when I was ready to break shit. His tail would hit me from anywhere, he would always break immobilise and anytime I used pluck he'd just AoE sweep them. He was squishy but also just so damn aggressive and could completely destroy me in like 3 combos if he wanted.

Breezed through this. First time in this game I've actually felt overpowered. Even the Yaksha King I beat first go. I did, however, cheese the Bishui Beast, but I didn't really give it a proper crack which I probably should have.

Felt really linear compared to previous chapters too.

If you fight duskveil before scorpion king, Scorpion King will show up in the duskveil fight and get killed. You don't get his loot however.

this is what I'll be doing on any NG+ as I have his gourd now. He can get stuffed. I'm never fighting that jerk again with his cheating tail

Mate, it's easy, just dodge and wail on him! ;)

(This dude is insane, has videos on Yellow Loong and Erlang with no damage too!)

Finished. Took around 60 hours.

I enjoyed it, but it's not really my kind of game. Pretty intense for the whole thing, prefer something where I can chill when I want to. If I didn't look up strategies I don't think I could have finished it. Some of those bosses were insane! All the initial reviews said it wasn't a Souls-like game at all, but it was exactly how I picture them, getting your ass handed to you time and time again.

Story was also confusing AF. The overall story seemed interesting, but really could have explained things better.

Going for Platinum would require me to play nearly 2/3rds of a NG+ run thanks to one mini boss I missed and couldn't go back for. CBF doing that so won't bother with it.

The story is shockingly bad. I’ve completely disregarded it at this point.

The story assumes a solid knowledge of Journey to the West. I don't as I'm just a dumb gweilo I just just enjoyed the gameplay and looked up the chapter lore online at the end. It's actually pretty cool, but yeah, you need to know to know.
Didn’t you watch Monkey Magic as a kid?

Disappointed there wasn’t a Sandi character though from what I could see.

The story still had the whole Souls vibe which gives it’s a pass. Is quiet cinematic too, although I’m only in Chapter 5 still taking my time.

I watched it but as if I'm remembering any names since then or equating the characters in the game to dudes playing dress up 30+ years ago. I'm lucky to remember the names of my favourite transformers.
