That was Cripps that went to boarding school. Pretty sure Acres is a high school dropout that worked for his family business.

If he had been drafted by Collingwood he would be rightly be called a high school drop out, as the Saints drafted him, he clearly should be called a self motivated young entrepreneur.

if he played for edgewater football club that'd be weird indeed. cant think of a boarding school that far north of the river in perth

Wow! Now I have a new claim to fame, I played footy for the same club in WA, albeit 30 odd years ago. Knew I'd leave a lasting impression on the club

mate i'm crediting you with the majority of his development. clearly the grav factor!!!!

So you do actually rate Acres as the second best prospect available in the draft?
I do as against the grain as it will be. There may be some West Australians who agree but I see Acres as Fyfe with footskills. He's a tall, strong midfielder who wins it inside and outside, can take marks, has versatility and can go forward and hit the scoreboard but then also has extra time and space and uses it so well. Perhaps not on the same dominant level but has talent and the scope to be the best midfielder in this draft.

What really appeals about Acres is he's both an athlete and natural footy player. Reading a bit up on him, his dad and uncle were both champion runners (800m) and his aunty a bronze medal winning swimmer at the Commonwealth Games in 1990. He looks to have some good genetics getting 15.2 in the beep test in the state screenings earlier in the year.

From a footy point of view, Blake looks like a natural having good awareness, decision making skills, natural football winning ability and skills. He looks like the complete package and a more complete and safer option than Marcus Bontempelli. He actually reads like a top 5 draft pick and going off knightmares analysis he sees him as becoming the best midfielder from this draft.

I can't find the post but someone was questioning the validity about a post I dropped about Acres not completing high school. I found an article about Blake starting a Tafe course in fitness at the beginning of the year. Being 17 (at the start of the year) I assume he left school prior to completing year 12 however I'm not 100% sure but it does make sense. The article went on to say he put the Tafe course on hold to focus on footy and began work at a family friends car maintenance business and had more flexibility to focus on footy and being drafted. And in no way to I pass judgement on someone not finishing high school, if that is the case with Blake.

You don't need to finish high school to do well in life, I'm aged 32 and know plenty that completed there VCE and have FA, and those like me who got apprenticeships at 16 and have set them selves up, you don't need to be the best at grammar and shit to succeed. And Blake showed that in his interview when he said all the other crap, but I bet you this kid will be our best recruit, he has shown he is not scared of the unknown, you don't need fancy education to do well in this world. Or the AFL

Longer taps Savage Goal. Centimetre perfect by the Saints from the boundary 50m out!

Re dropping out of high school:
Lindsay Fox was "asked to leave" school before starting VCE.

On Blacres, I think if he wasn't injured he would have been a top 15 pick for sure.

EDIT: just realised this made no sense at all
