Bloods 6th play Eagles (15th)
round 5 wce header.jpg

The teams will pause to honour the memory of those who died when HMAS Sydney II was lost in World War II. November 19, 2021 marked 80 years since 645 young men died when their ship was sunk off the coast of Western Australia in 1941, in what remains Australia’s greatest naval tragedy.
The Eagles will be fund raising for Legacy - to support families of veterans - donate at the ground or online Legacy WA
As a Legatee, Legacy has an incredible support system.

Victorians have the Easter Friday Royal Children's Hospital Appeal Good Friday Appeal

We can not forget our last game at long-winded-named ground, 18.10 to 3.8, but tonight we play at Bedrock.
We had a narrow escape last week against the Shinboners, whereas WCE had an upset win over the Colliwobbles,

WCE have a few of their regular players back, but likely they will be without match fitness - Luke Shuey, Tim Kelly, Jamie Cripps and Elliot Yeo.
It's to our advantage that Jeremy McGovern and Nic Naitanui are injured.
The Bloods have finished well final quarters so should we run them off their feet.

The Bloods have Logan McDonald replacing Lance Franklin, Ben Ronke in the 22 replacing JPK (managaged).
The emergencies are JPK, Joel Amartey, Matthew Roberts, Dylan Stephens

Congratulations James Rowbottom - enjoy your 50th game,

I am truly hopeless. I was initially super optimistic and was going to predict we would win by *Bob Kingston's first number - 46. Reality checks then dictated revision to Bob's second number - 23

By 3.00 am or thereabouts I was fighting acute pessimism. I resorted to one of Kingston's team mates, the great Tony Haenan**- 8. And that is where I will stay.

Mighty Bloods to get home by 8.

* Bob Kingston debuted at 16 for South. He was a big bloke around 190 and very solid. He played in the ruck but also as KPP at both ends.

** The late Tony Haenan was also a big bloke but not as hefty. He was a fine mark, often repelling Oppo attacks from the last line of defence

You're a lot of pessimists!!!

Heeney's at the top of his game, Hayward's playing well, Ronke is fit, firing and has something to prove! McDonald is playing his first game in WA and will want to claim his spot and perform well in front of that crowd. Ladham's should only improve from here and doesn't have to contend with NicNac; hopefully Parker is fit, Mills is at the top of his game, and both the Chad and Florent are in good form. T McCartin is have his best season yet, Paddy is improving with every outing, and Ramps, Lloyd and Cunningham are hitting their stride. Add to that the likes of MacInerney and Blakey, and I'm tipping us to lead at every break with the margin extending over the course of the game.

Sure, we're young so we may have an off game, but I don't think so!

I think you are right Kirkswan. I am never a pessimist. But in your enthusiasm you left out a lot of players and their positives.:)

You have to admit though the last 2 weeks were not super encouraging. We were smashed by the Bulldogs and we barely beat the worst team in the league last week.

I'm aware Rusty, but I often don't read caesar88's posts cause they are too long, and I didn't want to fall into that trap! (Sorry Caesar, you write some good stuff, but in general I just don't have time and I'm trying to get as much as I can in a short period!)

We have a good team, it's young and fast and mostly very skillful! I can't go through every player, but on the whole they play their roles and do it well imo.

I still believe very few on here are giving North enough credit, nor the impact of Blakey in the coaching for that game. Blakey was an assistant coach at the Swans for 14 years! He knows the ins and outs of every player on the field, the Swans system and Horse and co's coaching style.

We're going okay... have a little faith!

No offence, but get a grip!

The bulldogs did not smash us, they won by 11 points, and we were in it the whole way! We beat Norths by 11 points, suddenly not a smashing, but a 'barely' made it win!

Norths played really well, and showed signs of improvement. You can continually say how bad a team they are, but that does not change the fact that they played really well! A little respect for an opposition who played well wouldn't go astray on this board. Even with Blakey's insider knowledge of our game and player weaknesses, and we still beat them!!! They played well, and played on our weaknesses, and we still beat them. Perhaps we should give our young group a little bit of credit!

So no, I don't have to admit anything of the sort!
