Essendon is often referred to as * around these parts, jack. Keep up!
Of course they are. Wouldn't dream of changing that. Simply mean is that news just coming from an essendon member, or is there a word missing between * and member (such as board) which may give it more credence. I am a Carlton member. My knowledge of Carlton player comings and goings is limited to what I read on big footy. Most * members would be the same.

Heard from * member last night Daniher to Swans very likely. We are involved in the talks for Papley who wants to come home and to here. May have to involve players going out though due to leagues trading draft pick rules.

Can also confirm Ellis rumour of changing asking price and subsequently rebuffed. From my boss who is related to Ellis (15th cousin twice removed or something) and also a Richmond supporter. Apparently he was a done deal but thought he could milk us for more after Cogs re-signed. We said - do you have Dan Butlers number champ.
Honestly if the league has no issue with Hawthorn only taking 2 first round picks since 2010 (neither of whom remain on their list) I will be seriously annoyed if they force us to trade players rather than trade our picks.

How stupid would you have to be to try that on SOS?

I wouldn't mind if it were the last three picks in the top 50 but the fact that it doesn't seem to be a good draft year this year is exactly why I don't want to be picking them at the very death.

I don't think there's been any suggestions that the bottom end of the draft is any better or worse than most years, it's the strength of the top 25 that is under scrutiny. The comments from Agresta actually suggested that we believed there would be decent players in every round, so perhaps picks 30-50 aren't going to be much better than 51+.

Exactly. Proven performer across 3 areas of the ground, loves the jumper & has a dip. Letting him go would be a mistake in my opinion.

1 year ago Levi was worth nothing.

After good performances this year he has currency. Maybe a second round pick from Gold Coast or part of Martin swap.

And yet the AFL allowed GCS to do the dumbest trade in history last season with multiple pick swaps with the Lions which are so one-sided it’s almost like it was intentionally done to harm GCS.

Basically Lions gave up Pick 13-18 (2019) for Pick 19 (2018) + Pick 19 (2019) + Pick 42 (2019).

Of course the AFL will step in and give assistance to GCS and they probably don’t mind the Lions getting a helping hand either. Conspiracy anyone?

Don't think anyone, even Brisbane, were expecting a top 2 finish.

GC would have been hoping for a top 10 pick, which is understandable. That's the nature of future pick trading - forecast where you think clubs will end up, but take the risk that they overperform and make you look a bit silly. On the flip side, a few injuries to key players at Brisbane and it could have been a top 5 pick for two early seconds and a pick in the 40s.

And there was a time when Jones was worth nothing and now everyone has him as 1st or 2nd back picked every week.

I think it's all between the ears with Levi, he is hitting his best form late in his career & in a developing list full of young guys who are still working out best positions, having a guy you can put in 3 places on the ground & trust him to do a job is worth more to Carlton than a 2nd round pick.

The big stumbling block would be Dodoro, Daniher has to be adamant he wants out and Dodo will want 2 firsts, high end picks. Sydney are pretty straight forward as they usually get their man. I'm hoping we get Papley early and then Sydney can deal with *. If the Daniher move to Sydney isn't airtight, I can't see them letting Papley go.
