Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

Rucks & KPPS: Stanley, Smith, Taylor, Buzza, Kreuger, Ratugolea, Henderson, Hawkins, Fort, Schlensog, Abbott, Blicavs.

That's 12 players and it's not like that list is full of pure KPPs.

I'm clearly not counting smaller guys like Stewart, Kolodjashnij, Henry, Bews, Okunbor, etc

Their list is stacked with 'em. Bit of a quality vs quantity issue though....
There’s very few names in there I’m getting up and about for. Hawkins, Blicavs, Ratugolea and Taylor (almost retired) are the only quality in there for mine. Henderson a shell of what he was and Stanley average at best.

we play games in china...have you thought why? its to market the game...i guess with the ultimate aim of making it a worldwide game. if you think along these lines its easy to see why GC needs to live on. we need a darwin team and one in north QLD. become truely national before trying to go overseas

I don’t think the idea is to ever have an international team but rather just increase the base of a viewing audience. China has over 1.1 Billion people, if the AFL was able to tap in to just 0.25% of the population it would make for an explosion in advertising revenue, it’s all about the $$$$

Yeah agree. The NFL does exhibition games in the UK knowing full well that theyll never have a full time UK league...its just about luring more eyes.

While I don't doubt the Gold Coast is a great place to live for a lot of people (I prefer being more secluded and closer to nature myself), I wonder if maybe it's a bit too good.

I'd think the Suns are going to need to have a very good culture and the right heads on shoulders, so they don't always end up with a bunch of troublesome party boys.
Gold Coast has grown quiete a bit recently...its not just surfers paradise anymore. You can live in the hinterland and there are plenty of areas that are secluded and surrounded by nature.

However if the boys look for parties etc it won’t be hard to find here as it isn’t in melb Sydney Adelaide etc etc.

I agree that the key is for the club to become more professional and improve their club culture. Therefore they’ll need good leaders on and off the field. They appear to be on the right track now so I’m hoping it will work out well. Why should the people of south east Queensland miss out on footy?

Is SOS’ opportunity with WC?

Say we give up our 2020 first for Martin and a 2019 pick 15 or 20.

WC may well need currency for Kelly. What or who could we target for the pick 15 or 20?

I seriously don’t know how people post trades like this and think they are realistic. Where do you think we will finish next year?

Would you trade Fisher or Cuningham for an 6-8 pick upgrade? Why would GC trade Jack Martin, purely to just move up the draft order by 6-8 picks?

It’s to grow interest in the game...viewing and playing will be part of it.

Keep in mind I have a vested interest. If Tassie got a team and it meant GC were the sacrificial lamb, I'd hardly be complaining :p

Ideally we would get a team completely of our own though.

Most of you won’t understand what I’m saying here but a Tassie team could be like the NFL having a team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The town has a population of just 100,000 but the town are right behind the team and are all owners of the team and the team is one of the most popular in the country because they get a lot of neutral fans who don’t have a team in their city. The weather is also harsh there so it’s harder for visiting teams to win and they’ve had some great players over the years and teams and coaches. But most important thing is the local passionate and committed fans. Tassie could be the Green Bay of the AFL.

So which town, Hobart or Launceston?

“Journos” finally asking the right questions about Papley’s supposed 2023 contract situation. 🤪

Don't think SOS would have even bothered looking into the trade if 4 years were true.
