Thanks for the insight. Not disputing what you say, but if that is the case, then the AFL knows this as well , which then asks the question- why do they need help with picks? If all is coming together as you say, then surely its just time that is needed (like us). If King and Luko want to leave then they will be for a couple of first rounders each so losing them would probably be a positive long term
I think for a few reasons:

They have the off field set, or near enough, but on field clearly isn't. They need an influx. I actually think they will try to send most of those picks away for older players, outside of 1 & 2. Reports of Greenwood, B Crouch and Ellis are promising for them, plus a few trades will be handy. I think they're all FAs so them plus 2 or 3 traded in players will be huge if they can pull it off.

The Suns don't have the luxury of waiting; they don't have the fan support to sustain themselves for an elongated down period. Combine that with the fact they're in a non traditional AFL region trying to develop a fan base means they can't finish last year on year.

This really is probably the last chance they will have to build the team, and the AFL know that. If in 3 years time they're still in this position on field I seriously doubt they'll still be around, at least on the GC.

I agree with your last point in principle, just not trading them for picks. I think they should trade Luko now to Adelaide for 1 or both Crouches if they can. Max is still undecided from what I've heard, if they are able to keep him that'd be huge.

Not sure it’s been mentioned but now that GC have access to new zones, would they be interested in multiple picks to accumulate points in exchange for Martin?

Suns dont have too much leverage when he is out of contract, Sos wont give up first rounder unless we are getting a high quality pick in return.

Reckon we'll definitely have to dip into next year's picks to get Martin, but the first alone is too much.

Any word on when the Puma deal becomes official? Just saw the bombers announce a new deal with Under Armour

Gold Coast have pick 20 in 2020 (end of first round) as part of their assistance package. If they package that up with Martin, it might be worth our future first. Partly we just need to back ourselves in, and believe that our future first is not going to be yet another top-3 pick...

Green Bay also has the city of Milwaukee (population of over 2 million) and is the only team in the state of Wisconsin (population of just under 6 million). They have a big market to draw supporters from.

Tassie would also draw from Melbourne. I'm a Tasmanian and live in Melbourne and I would ABSOLUTELY be a dual Blues and Tassie member. I know of many others who are the same. Half their games would be played here so they would gain thousands of extra members in this city without any effort at all.

Yeah, surely he is busting to get out of that basketcase...
The comment was made on the basis that he has investigated a move to the club because he's not getting games where he is.
No matter the reason for the move nor how strong the club of origin, if he is half hearted about the move then he should stay put.
I stand 100% behind m
Really think we should consider Kamdyn McIntosh as the 4th player. Mentioned that he's looking around on trade radio. Very good locking down of small defenders. Has good speed and endurance.

The other player is Connor Menadue. Line breaking speed and wouldn't cost anything. We don't have anyone of his type.

Butler is decent, but would prefer one of those two over him given Betts, Papley and Martin look likely.
Agree with all that except the Butler part.
Wonder if there's any way to get a 2 for one deal over the line?
Pick swaps after player trades maybe?

Don't the Suns just have to nominate them to secure them now? As in they no longer need to match a bid for players.

I'd do that if we locked in the Papley deal first and didn't have a gun mid on the radar.

I fear that him being a television sports reporter was an elaborate joke that nobody ever bothered to follow up on and now he is stuck and out of his depth.
Looking forward to his next blunder given there are so many media sleuths trying to out do each other in the coming weeks.

Yep for the next 3 years players from their zones now including Darwin have zero cost

I thought so. Trading with the Suns just got trickier given one of their major incentives no longer applies.

Casboult is far too valuable to us to lose. We only have Charlie and Harry as ley forwards so if eithe of them go down we need Cas to fill the breach. Same with ruck backup. He's also demonstrated that as a defender, he's solid.

If tradebait is required, Marchbank surely is more dispensable?
Bang On. Nailed it.
