CasboultWho goes out?
If Gaff’s get out clause means he can can somehow revisit Free Agency, then Wow....
Yeah I guess. I still think Marchy is a must have as he is not only a quality player but is also expected to have a very good season next year.Dropping Plowman? Our most versatile defender and 3rd in B&F. I love Marchy but Plow is one of our most important and consistent players.
FB: S. Docherty -- L. Jones -- L. Plowman
HB: K. Simpson -- J. Weitering -- N. Newman
C: A. Gaff -- E. Curnow -- J. Martin
R: M. Kreuzer -- P. Cripps -- S. Walsh
HF: J. Silvagni -- C. Curnow -- T. Papley
FF: E. Betts -- H. McKay -- M. McGovern
Int: L. Casboult -- W. Setterfield -- M. Murphy -- S. Petrevski-Seton
Emg: L. O'Brien -- P. Dow -- Z. Fisher -- C. Marchbank
I'm tumescent.
For sure...so was Gaff your mystery man ?Love it, debating best 22 will continue to polarize, even more when we are a contender
Michael ....Gaff is the gamechanger. He puts Carlton into finals. He is exactly what we need to compliment cripps. Add Papley and cross our fingers for Martin, betts and no injuries and we can finish in the 8
when you have dow, fisher, marchbank and o'brien in your emergencies, you know the depth is getting much betterLove it, debating best 22 will continue to polarize, even more when we are a contender
I suspect the issue is less one of the law of contract and more one of the AFL/AFLPA wanting to remove contractual clauses that can unilaterally end contracts early. Not to mention the knock on effects in terms of salary cap, free agency etc.

I know it is getting hard to fit everyone in, but you just cant leave a player like Marchbank out. I doubt Simmo will play every game next year, and there is no guarantees that Docherty will be up to his 2017 standard, so based on form I think it will be one of those. Of course if they both play well and injury free I think we will have to look at dropping Plowman.

So Agresta said we don't really need support for Cripps.
I think it was Jeremias who wisely said that as every year goes by, the less we need to find this support for Cripps.
We have to put it on the players we now have to step-up tio support - Setterfield, Kennedy, Dow, SPS etc.
As someone put forward to me today in regards to Gaff; If indeed West Coast are happy to move him on in order to get Kelly, why not just deal with Geelong?
this place when the itk’s start to get involved...
things normally don’t happen for another 24-36 hours, but the no gaff movement from some is really interesting stuff to read lol
Agree it's more about the CBA. No player is going to agree to a clause where the club can terminate early, this sort of unilateral clause would only be to the benefit of a player who has a lot of relative market power at that time (eg Gaff, Kelly). Clubs wouldn't want to agree to it generally speaking.
Thoughts?

I'd think that with Docherty returning it will be Newman who is more likely to be relegated to the fringes of the team before Plowman would be.
Amazing how the tune has changed
Also, anyone could come out of nowhere next season, for example James Worpel this year. Stocker could go straight to the center circle and average 25 disposals.I'd think that with Docherty returning it will be Newman who is more likely to be relegated to the fringes of the team before Plowman would be.
If you want to add Marchbank to that team unfortunately for Levi he probably would be the one to miss out. Mind you it's very rare that we have all our key position players available at the same time so I still see Levi as being important to us, he will still play more often than not.
It's been a long time since we've had a problem with settling on a best 22, a very good sign for the future.
