Actually today was vastly different. A trade was done, compared to yesterday where absolutely nothing happened.
Sure the trade didn't involve us at all, but 1 trade (a 3 way) is a lot more than 0.

The period is way too long.

How long should it be though?
I feel it could start on a Tuesday or Wednesday and close shop on the Monday night.

The weekend just allows a cooling-off period of sorts for players and clubs.........and then bang on the Monday.

Can we just ban anyone who talks about trading fish for the next week?
What about crustaceans though? Asking for a crabby friend.

I think 4-5 days is plenty.
But to make sure everybody has plenty of time, I would move the initial meeting to the Friday at the start of the Free Agency Period. No trades happen on the first day anyway. Then everybody can hit the ground running on the Monday morning when it starts. Run it through to either the Thursday night or the Friday afternoon.

It’s not the length of trade period that annoys me. It’s the league thinking it needs to introduce another week before the season in addition to it. The World game has 3 month transfer windows because they can, it involves hundreds and hundreds of clubs and players. We are a 18 team league and deal within ourselves. It’s ridiculous, Hocking is clueless. 10 days of clubs talking to one another and wheeling and dealing is more than enough.

Who give a stuff how long the trades take, it ends Wednesday

Surely no one is worried about missing a game

The smarter operators will get more done and get the better deals done.
The longer things go, the more the poorer operators find a way of sticking their nose in, where it doesn't belong.

I like the idea of the shorter and more active period.

The weekend in between would add a lot to the 'drama' as there's no more padding thereafter.
You're either in or you're out come Monday morning.

We still in the market for Bonar?

Will be a 3rd year player and either provide support for Cripps in the midfield or allow someone like Cuningham to move up the ground on ball.

Adds much needed pace to our team.
