Agree - so it appears Hawks will be in this deal to facilitate pick swaps. Though they’re probably going to get back some nice picks if they’re putting up their future first.
It may well be that say they finish 9th in 2020, after all of the f/s and academy picks, that could end up being pick 15 or lower through a diluted draft.

Pick #9 this year may be worth a lot more than pick #9 at the start of the 2020 ND.

It may also suggest they'll be going all out on Whitfield next year as a FA, so loading up this year on draft picks/trades. Love them or hate them, Wright is a shrewd list manager.

Either way, those pricks owe us one after the O'Meara trade.

Risky move by the dodo head, what if Daniher misses through injury again? Suddenly he will be lucky to get them band 2 compo
He could also come good and drive the price up next year if the Swans still want him.

But we’ve seen it work well for clubs who hold a player to their contract when they don’t have an offer they like. Got us a great deal with Gibbs, same as the Cats with Kelly.

I just hope we can extricate Papley from Sydney without being caught up in * carry on.

We're interested in Bonar but probably won't have the currency to get it done. Casboult has been tabled as a potential swap.

Need to make this happen.

Trade value is a pick between 30-40.

Can't see how currency is an issue. The biggest issue would be vying for his services. Would be quite a number of clubs looking at him.

With regards to the Hawks owing us, the pick swap of 2016 had a residual points value that equates to about pick 55 in their favour.

GWS eventually ended up with that future second and picked Brent Daniels.
We drafted Macredie and Williamson with the 48 and 60 (actual numbers will be adjusted slightly for Academy selections).
They really don’t owe us anything. It also goes to show the value of identifying talent in the draft and trading for it accordingly.

edit: it was actually Polson who would’ve come from the 60. Oops. But my point still stands. (would’ve loved Quinton Narkle the pick following Cam). Love me some hindsight drafting.
