If Paperly doesn't come, it makes for a pretty exciting 2 or 3 days to see what SOS can shake free with pick 9.

I suspect he will either split pick 9 or take it to the draft if Papley doesn't come. Doesn't seem like there is any other worthwhile players on the market worth giving up pick 9 for (well that we know of)

Defensively docherty is better than Whitfield. Even at 70%. Whitfield is an offensive flanker, a distributor. Does no defending. Docherty was a defensive general, took intercept marks, locked down when he had to and was a good enough spoiler. It's a non contest defensively.

So it’s a no contest offensively because Doc isn’t at the level of Whitfield with ball in hand. Not at 70% anyway......

If I’m Sydney Papley stays unless Daniher gets done, so I don’t think it’s surprising. That is this years 659pm trade & the AFL will love it. Carlton, Essendon & Sydney 3 way at the death

I know everyone wants this deal NOW OR YESTERDAY but just think about the feeling of pure elation if it came off at the death knock on Wednesday. The absolute reverse of #shielgate for some.

I personally think Pick 9 straight up would be more than enough. Would be prepared to add a 3rd rounder to get it done.

Pick 9 on it's own is overs, but Swans hold all the cards. Will be interesting to see how SOS plays this.
Paps is EXACTLY what we need.

Remember when Tom Harley publicly begged the AFL to reinstate the Swans COLA a few months ago ?

Typical Private School Trust Fund Brat wanting even more cash to splash from Daddy attitude 👎👎👎

Would like to see how they would get by without these bs acadamies, COLA and that shoebox they call a home ground.

Sneaky operators who crack the sads if one thing goes against them. Similar to Geelong.

I think Whitfield probably has doch covered even when both are 100% with ball in hand.

Barrass giving good accurate mail again.

He hasn't said we're likely to miss Papley. He's said Sydney are playing hardball and we won't know til Wednesday. It has been pretty obvious that the Daniher/Papley trades will happen wednesday on the 90% chance they happen. Barrass has just let the masses here who are time poor and wondering what is happening know.

:thumbsu:

Maybe a future third would be more appropriate than 41. Agree it’s a hefty price, I just really want papley and rate him highly.

I can understand why others may not agree though.

So if Joe D stays we need to entice Sydney with something other than 9.

Given the talk of them next year needing picks for academy players maybe we need to turn 9 into a first next year ?

Does this bring the hawks rumour of pick swapping into play?

Swans playing hard ball with Papley.. looks like we’re won’t know until Wednesday.Martin and Betts will be done.
Man, for Pick 9 on the table, I'd tell them to bash it if they want more and go and get a decent Mid.
We have Betts for a year or two, we can have another crack at Papley when contract is done.

Whilst dodo can be his own worst enemy at times, I do respect his 'we'll make the bastards pay" type of attitude.
He's no SOS, but he is a shit load smarter operator than what Hughes and Rogers were.

Dodos reasoning is completely solid on this one.

Your contracted, prime age, 200cm+ forward that your whole offence will operate around wants to leave, and you’re given (hypothetically) picks 5 & 25.. your options are extremely limited. Aka Jenkins.

Let Swans play hardball with Papley, which may have come about if Dodo is considering accepting a player in the JD deal, rather than 2 x 1st rounders

We just redirect our attention to another target with the 2 x 1st rounders we have
Doesn’t sound like a redirect though does it Azza? Sounds like a ‘wait and see’.
