I understand the argument for trading a future first for Martin, but don't agree...

For a start, I could see him either being in our most important 6 players in the next few years, but I could equally see him delisted at the end of his contract with us as well...certainly if he plays like he has the last few years, I would be hoping he isn't in our best 22...

The second reason, as some have mention is, rightly or wrongly, a 'first round pick' (even though this could be pick 1 to 18), is a much greater commodity for trading next year than a 'future second'...sure they could only be a few places apart, but unfortunately a first round pick seems to hold much more currency than other rounds regardless...

Has Martin played like a first round pick? No he ended up in the NEAFL. Suns being unrealistic if they want a first round pick. Two second rounders and that is adding a bit of potential to get it to that.

We don't fold, especially if he can avoid getting re-drafted by them in the PSD.

Happy to part with a first round pick for Papley though, he's proven.
