Bluemour Melting Pot XXI - Like seriously, the polar ice caps have got nothing on us

With 3rd pick in the PSD, Martin will walk and put a huge price on his head agreed with us.

Demons with #2 will baulk as their salary cap is already pretty full.

And if Suns with #1 really hold him to ransom, and re-Draft him - imagine the message that sends to any young Sun recruit:

“COME TO US AND WE’ll LOCK YOU IN OUR SHITHOLE FOR LIFE!”

I’m gutted like most here about how today played out but we’ll get Martin for nothing and we’ll be laughing in a few weeks.

My only concern is if the AFL step in and give Martin a lucrative “ambassador” role to make him stay. Fair risk of that too the ****ers.

Why?? Cos I'm angry we were promised so much and delivered nothing??? We needed those players and got nothing. It's a joke

What were we promised? 2 players nominated and their respective clubs played hardball. Get some perspective or maybe a hobby your reaction is really quite pathetic.

Not if we have to pay overs for them. GC were asking too much for Martin, and Sydney were never going to trade Papley if Daniher didn't go there. Its disappointing, but sometimes trades simply don't happen

Thanks for the updates all the itk posters, shit happens. Very gutted atm, but still feel we are a strong chance of Martin in the psd. Really wanted Papley, but Eddie gives us another years buffer to have another crack at him next year. Result of nobody blinking I suppose. SOS targeted who we need, but wasn’t prepared to be shafted, is how it seems.

Love the spin by some people here. This is a fail for SOS, no other way to see it.
He had players we need (small forwards) nominating us, and he wasn't able to land them.
Future players will be apprehensive nominating CFC given SOS' inability to seal a deal.
Add to that missing out on Cogs.
A massive fail. We'd want to get Martin in PSD that is all I can say.

what can he do with Papley though if Sydney refuse to trade him if they don't get Daniher? Nothing SOS can do about that.
It comes back to Dodo.

Also GC are ****ed for not accepting our future 2nd & 3rd picks for an OOC Martin, while letting Ah Chee go for Brisbane's future 2nd & 4th.
SOS was fair and reasonable, the other clubs weren't.

Ok, I'm going to try and look at this without emotion.
1) Swans had every right to hold Papley to his contract. If we swap Papley for Charlie Curnow who had 2 years to run, would the majority here be ok seeing us trade him? Perspective.
2) We got GC at a time when it is make or break. They have leaked good players like a sieve. This might be their 'line in the sand' moment. They also probably see us as a 'direct competitor' in rising up the ladder. Why make us stronger.
Maybe they are prepared to lose Martin in the PSD to put off future players doing the same.
3) Many here think SOS has opposition Recruiting Managers 'shaking in their boots'. I hope this proves once and for all what a load of shit that is. Not everyone is as stupid as Justin Reid.
4) We bag the Saints, but they got ALL their targets. Kudos.
5) I appreciate and enjoy reading what our ITK posters provide. But I can also understand the angst amongst our group about their information.
My response to that is two fold. Firstly, NOTHING is done until it's done. People here need to understand that.
But where I do see an issue is the language used by some off the ITK's. I could quote 2 dozen posts that were definitive in their language. If I can provide some advice, maybe 'soften' the language, maybe use more than 4 or 5 word posts that give off an impression of certainty.

Anyway, I'm sure the internal review of our trade period will be far more rigorous and probing than anything us plebs write here..

Go Blues.

Well I'm off research the draft because I have absolutely know idea who there is this yr other than Rowell and Anderson because I wasn't expecting us to have any early picks

Sam Flanders hopefully lasts until 9.

Flanders is a medium forward with enough strength to play midfield and shrug off opponents with a strong core, smarts and clean hands in close.

Papley is contracted. Chase contracted players and you will get burnt from time to time which is expected.
We are in a crappy position with Martin now though. If we get him in the PSD he will be paid overs which apparently we won’t do anymore.
We didn’t read the environment very well to miss out on Butler.

Poor offseason. Somethings were out of our control but we weren’t smart enough to get ahead of the curve.

Hill had two years left on his deal and I'm sure that Freo didn't want to lose him either.

Disappointing, but not the end of the world. We need a small forward; next year we have Betts, the year after we have another chance to trade one in, either Papley or someone else.

Martin will hopefully still make it across.

Wouldn't mind if we do some sort of trade involving #9 and someone else's future first to improve our trade position next year.

Not blaming SOS. Negotiations are never entirely in your control.
