Papley Deal is going to be disappointing if it falls through, but the Wines Talks should be going on at a frantic pace regardless IMHO as he's the exact type of Mid we need to help Cripps, even at the expense of Martin I'd say. Aside from that, if sos lowballs you , to the point where your contract just sitting there on the table, gives you the message that you are fringe at best, surely you owe it to yourself and family to explore your options

Kruezer was a CORE and 1st 18 player that was requested to play for Carlton.
Phillips is a fringe player and in his exit/end of year interview was told that he was a top up player and needed to XYZ to make the team.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ollie Wines ends up at Hawthorn in a trademark Clarko Smash N Crab type recruiting heist. They have cap space opened up, the draft pick(s) assets required to satisfy Port, as well as the Chad Wingard connection.

The Hawks have been suspiciously quite in the trade period too far, if I had to make a guess, I would say Hawthorn would be more keen on Wines than us.
