Love the end outcome. Always thought pick 9 was way too high for a small forward.

Martin wasn’t worth what GC wanted either.

SOS has done bloody well not to buckle late on.

What a shit show for the AFL, AFLPA and GC. I’m so pissed. Keath just went for a future 3rd. Jenkins for a future 5th. Bonar for a future 3rd. Ah Chee for a future 2nd and 4th. We offered over for both our options and they turned it down despite asking to be at Carlton. Either the AFL have told GC to do this and shaft us (wouldn’t ****ing surprise me) or they’re all ****ing idiots. Did I mention how pissed I am.

Had Wines asking to come to Carlton and said no.

Failed to get Papley.

Failed to get Martin.

Bye SOS.

2 contracted players. We don't know the facts about Wines.

There are countless moving pieces involved, and it's a volatile situation, clearly - but a very disappointing outcome.

On face value, it appears we went all-in with our targets and opted not to pursue a 'Plan B'. Given the value of the Butler trade, for example, we appear to have missed the boat here - he would've improved our list, and cheaply.

Bit off more than we could chew in the end, as it turned out, but trades can always fall through if the other mob won't come to the party. Where I think this looks poor is the (apparent) lack of a contingency plan.

Should of tried to get Butler at least and to shrug off Wines is a massive fail as far as I'm concerned.
Not happy. Put all their eggs in one basket without looking further.
Yes, get a player we didn't want just to make a trade and please the nuffies. And wines would have cost way too much plus port wouldn't let him go anyway
