***************************************************

Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

Someone told me that Geelong was well impressed with Macreadie during the scratch match when they had him in their side. If we're going to be chasing one of Geelongs first round picks, Macreadie might be the person put on the table first.

All these trades and FA hey?
Aight, now I'm unrealistically salivating at the prospect of:

B: Marchbank, Jones, Docherty
HB: Williams, Weitering, Saad

C: Walsh, Cripps, Williamson,
R: TDK, Setterfield, Kelly

HF: Fisher, C. Curnow, Martin
F: Betts, McKay, Casboult

INT: E. Curnow, Graham, Murphy, SPS

E: Gibbons, Pittonet, McGovern, Plowman, Cuningham, Kemp, Dow, Newnes, Silvagni, LOB, Stocker.... DEPTH!
I'd be hoping to see more of Cuningham in the side rather than Betts. I mean, Eddie is good, but Cuningham is starting to turn into a beast! Cuningham had 9 tackles against the paddlepops.

Merett or josh kelly ?
Kelly is too much of an outside player... so is Merrett but he isn't afraid to get down into the trenches to win his own ball if he has to. Personally, I'd take Cogs over Kelly and Merrett, but if push came to shove, I'd have to take Merrett!

It's in their interest to lose them to the same club over two separate clubs. Carlton can sweeten the deal by giving them something for Williams, rather than them losing him for nothing.

2 1st rounders + a carrot (2nd round pick?) - still great value for Kelly and Williams.
They get compo pick.

I love your optimism but there is no chance on earth that a 23 (come April) year old former third round pick who has played 1 game of AFL football for 2 disposals in the last three seasons even factors into a discussion for a first-round draft selection regardless of how much they may have liked him in a scratch match.

Macreadie and what?
If we want another first to make a significant trade, the club may have to concede a bit. Geelong will know we NEED the pick and smart people would feast on our carcass. Someone mentioned Marchbank and/or Dow could be of interest to the Cats. GULP - but if it meant Kelly (and a side order of Zach fries), you gotta pull the pin. The one advantage we have, funnily enough, is they have 3 first rounders and this and next year are firmly in the Premiership window. Getting one shouldn’t be difficult, just pricey.

They also have big Charlie Constable who isn’t getting games. Big mid who can play but is behind a pretty dynamic midfield. IF, and a big IF, we were getting Kelly and Williams, Constable might be a nice compliment. I’d trade out Marchy, Harrison and Paddy for a 1st and Constable. There’ll be a few defenders to cover Marchbank loss (and BSOS).

...and if we get Kelly and Williams. 40 year old virgin right here folks. Even though I’m 53 and have been a very naughty boy.

1. Having McGovern on the list earning 600k or so does preclude us from getting the most out of Gunston, who is a much better player in a similar role.

2. That would be a good problem to have. I'm not sure he'll be the number 1 again as long as Walsh is alive, though. Particularly if he goes back into the mindset of thinking he is an explosive midfielder who can break the lines and hit 60m targets like Dusty. Needs someone more senior/respectable to have a stern talking to him.
I’m pretty sure McNuggets is out of contract

Highly doubtful the club trades Marchy. And no way they're that desperate for an extra first

brackets will get his opportunity next year to perform. Has all the rhetoric of the Daisy debacle who many - including myself - hounded as a massive FA blunder but daisy turned the corner. If Charlie is fit and they continue playing TDK, then I can only see McGovern’s place in the team being in the backline and perhaps drifting forward occasionally. The club will need to properly balance the height of having Harry, TDK, Pittonet, Cas, Charlie and McGovern. Harry and Charlie as non-negotiable starters of course.

It's a nuisance.

He's a liability down forward, he's probably capable down back but out KPD stocks are stacked, it would force someone like Marchy in a trade. As there's no room for Weitering, Marchy, Jones and Plow all back there.

Silly list management picking up Gov was.
