Steer clear. Good clearances but a woeful Sh!t truck of a player from that point on. Shocking disposal, zero defensive running. He's half the reason Melb are so Sh!t.

How does one accurately judge a players defensive running?

I beg to differ. He's still put himself in situations where he's been in a position to be cleaned up.

Just because he's not doing it every week doesn't make him soft, makes him a veteran player who has learnt better when to go and when not too.

It's not reasonable to ask someone who has put their body on the line so often over the years to not expect the younger bodies now to take over that role.

How do you know he plays scared? He doesn’t have the same grunt as he has displayed in the past, neither do I, but that doesn’t mean he is scared. Select your adjectives carefully.

Lyon said a lot of dumb things. Was comparing our mid to Freo's and saying they have Fyfe, Brayshaw, Cerra, Serong and Young when fit and said we have Cripps and Murphy. So apparently Young is mentioned but not Curnow, Walsh, Setters and Martin. Also said we have underachieved because we kept talking about finals - despite most experts having us bottom 4-6 this yr. Lastly we haven't even relied on really anyone in our wins, been a pretty equal contribution - yet he said we rely on Cripps and Murphy. Must have last watched Carlton in 2017.

Most media pundits wouldn’t watch us closely more than five or six times a year. I’ve come to realise diehard supporters know more about the list and the intricacies of our players than most in the media including past coaches like Ross. They pretend to know a lot but most of them watch most teams closely five or six times a year. These guys aren’t watching nine games a round in detail particularly the teams not in contention.

I have head shaking moments at times when they discuss our list.... I mean most of them think Walsh is not the best player In his draft yet he’s polled double the coaches votes than he’s nearest competitor and those votes are given by the most qualified watchers in the games he’s played being the coaches.

Perplexing the money they’re paid to generalise as they do.

Just watched the segment.
I agree he may have stretched the truth a little there, but there is some merit to what he said:
- I think Freo do play a tougher game style.
- Their kids have come on quicker than ours. Walsh aside, the next 3 or 4 kids in order of quality would be Freo players. We’ve all spoken at length of the fact our 3 kids in Dow, LOB & Stocker are not playing for various reasons, but compare them to Cerra and Brayshaw and it’s not even an argument.
- He also said that Sydney are far closer to a flag than us. Not sure I’d say far closer, but again their crop of younger players is probably ahead of ours. Our young KPPs are miles in front, but overall it’s probably even.

We do need to toughen up as a club, and to add more consistent support for Cripps. I think Lyon’s comments are indicative of the low esteem we are held in the wider footy community.

I really don't understand why anyone cares what anyone in the media says about us. We don't exist to impress them, we just keep doing our thing, once we're right at the top they'll then take notice and I still won't care what they have to say.

You're entitled to have an opinion Terry but I can't agree and I don't think too many will. You really should pick a better target, maybe from an opposition club rather than one of our own. If he was scared he wouldn't be setting foot onto a football ground, it's a poor assessment.
