Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

9x in a 15 year career he played 14 games or less.

Your opinion is fine, but it's a pretty low bar to consider someone durable if that's what durable means to you. Barely over half a season of availability for 60% of your years in the league wouldn't be most peoples perception of durable.

Jesus christ man let it go.

They wouldn't be saying it like that, but do you really think a pick 3 is brought in to not have an impact almost immediately? Look at the last half dozen pick 3s...
Jackson, Rankine, Dow, McCluggage, Mills, Brayshaw. All of those (Jackson exception given his position) were brought in to have an impact. A kid picked at 60+ (eg williamson) would be seen as a slower burn.

Diesel didn't single out all of young kids, he singled out Dow specifically because he has worked with him.

Anyway we can agree to disagree. If Dow stays with us, I couldn't imagine he could go another season with little improvement and people would be ok with it.

Lol to funny seriously. No club ever would have drafted an 18 year old to have an immediate impact. Dow just coming off a knee injury. You are delusional in your thoughts. No we can not agree to disagree because your thoughts are beyond silly. Thank god you are not our recruiter is all i can say. Trading and de-listing players at the ripe old age of 20.

Glad you're ok with mediocrity 👍
That'll get the club places.

I know a bit about that. I used to coach soccer and have heard all kinds of dribble. Parent coming up to me telling me what other parents/family members have been saying... experiencing it first hand when watching my cousin play. It's everywhere from junior all the way to senior level.

Boils down to excuses. We have a legend who has worked closely with him telling us what his problem is. The onus is on him to fix that. If he thinks Diesel is wrong and his mates/family members know better then he's an idiot. If Paddy is disgruntled and thinks the club has been unfair to him after giving him a 3 year extension and plenty of game time to prove himself then he's not the type of player to bring us forward.
I would trade Dow if was indifferent to not getting a game. The fact that he is pissed is welcome news.

In what world do you draft a player and not expect them to have an impact? Better yet our pick 3 in Dow is more a liability than an asset on the pitch and people are really starting to notice. He would be worth a late second rounder at best, same goes for SPS better to cut out losses sooner rather than later.

Uh, in the real world?
You draft players, particularly in the first round, to have a 12-15 year career. If you want immediate impact you trade the pick for a mature player.

I suppose you're filthy we drafted Brodie Kemp? Absolutely zero impact, hasn't even played a scratch match.

If Geelong offered us 11 for Dow this year, it'd be a gift. We take that and run.
We need players to have an impact now. Crippa, evidently this year, has been murdered in the midfield due to a lack of help.
If that pick 11 netted us a proven 23-26 year-old, I'd take that every day of the week.

What did you think of Samos last game ?

And use that late second rounder to draft a player without first round talent and that would take another few years to develop. Sounds like a ripping strategy. How bout you write it a bit more in depth and send it off to the club. Surprised it's not done more often by more clubs. Getting rid of developing low first round picks because, well, no reason in particular, so we can start again with late second rounders. I really really like this strategy.

Not sure if anything has been mentioned anywhere, but do we have any more information on Liam Stocker? Not wanting to know his personal issues away from football, but would like to know why he has returned home if footy related - injuries, lack of motivation, lack of opportunity, hub life etc

Club hasn't provided much information when and since he left. Any word?

It was a good game, but they are far to irregular

Who said anything about that being the strategy? How long do you plan on holding on to underperforming players? My comment on a late 2nd rounder is based on his current value which highlights how much he has underperformed in his past 2 years. Holding on to players based solely on potential talent is one reason that we have been at the bottom for the past decade

Think it’s a personal family matter. I don’t necessarily think it’s an issue particular to him rather a family one. He wants to be there for the family which is absolutely fair. As long as he keeps up with the regime prescribed to him by the club as best he can then i have no issues with that.

He hasn't underperformed and you don't know what his current value actually is at all. Like 0 idea. You don't even know whats going on with his development, as a fan its impossible this year. The scratch matches aren't really informative at all.

Holding players on potential talent is like the furthest thing from the real reasons as to why weve been bottom for so so long. We never had any players with good potential most of them were duds. lol. You want to throw out players you have no idea about before they've got time to develop and then include underperforming as a reason? This is just impatience and shows 0 understanding on footy development, recruiting and how to set up sustainable success. Keep clinging to the ' holding on to players based solely on potential' thing though. Shows great understanding.

Sydney might be more inclined to take 2021 first given they’ve got a couple of academy players coming and would want to get them cheap as possible. Pick 3/4/5 should see those players slip by and then they’ll use later picks to clean up (again)

We trade Dow and again we show we have no idea on development. The kid can be anything and Geelong aren't idiots.
Could be anything or could be nothing. Geelong are in a position where they can afford to take the risk. We need impactful players immediately if we want to rise up the ladder.

One good game against a bottom 4 side doesn't excuse the rest of the season.
SPS was brilliant against Swans - that wasn’t just a good game. It was his best game of the year but not his only good game. Yes we’d love that to be the standard. And he’s had more good games than bad ones. I’m backing him to be consistent as soon as next year. His ball handling at ground level, spatial awareness and kicking are a clear point of difference for our team. Why do you want to trade that away with a potential 10 years to come?

We've been watching a different SPS it seems. The guy running around in number 5 has been incredibly sub-par this year.
His kicks are 20m chips. He doesn't hurt the opposition with his kicking by doing that.
Looks very disinterested most of the time.

OMFG now there is 2 of them. Yeah i mean seriously how long can you keep a 20 year old on the list. I mean what a waste. How silly to draft any kids. These recruiters are so dumb these days. Seriously mate you should be a recruiter. Obviously you know what you are doing. I have seen some absolute ridiculous comments in my life time but feffs93 and alfo you guys have taken the trophy. I do not think anyone will post anything more ridiculous than you 2. Just some things can not be unread.
